How Running Saved My life

by Andreas Michaelides

Running is my “Religion”
My favorite sport thought was, and it will be until I leave my last breath on this beautiful green, blue ball, running.
I started running because my father told me a story that when he was a student in high school he won a second or a third place in one of the high school races. I describe this incident in my first book Thirsty for Health a lot because it is one of those incidents that when happened did not think of it much, was not something it registered in my head as something important.

The Renaissance: A History From Beginning to End (Leonardo Da Vinci, Michelangelo, Theresa of Avila, William Shakespeare, Martin Luther, Johannes Gutenberg)

by Hourly History

☆ The Renaissance ☆
During the Middle Ages, the nations of Europe forged new identities that moved them away from the lost glory of the Roman Empire into their own ethnicity. The experience of maturation was often clumsy and out of step, an evolutionary process that saw the nation's developing at their own pace as they struggled to replace the protection of Rome with their own home-grown strength. What the nations, once they were ready to be described in that manner, did have was the Roman Catholic Church, which defined itself as the spiritual protector of Christian believers. But the dutiful Christians of the Middle Ages who sought orthodoxy and for the most part obeyed the papal rules underwent a change when the Middle Ages ended. The Renaissance, or rebirth, was a period of ti...

Say What?!

by Winner Torborg

Say What?! What you say has more to do with your own life than you know. Jesus said, “For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” If you have a mouth and you can speak then you are bound to speak sometime; and when you speak it would be very good for you and others that you know how to speak positive words. Your words effect your life; but not only your life, they also effect others and God also. Let’s put that in different words; when you choose to speak God’s Words they will both affect and have an effect on the one you are speaking to and on you also. This is the second edition, the first edition is found in the book The Echo Effect....

But is impact investing really the new miracle cure to meet all our societal challenges? In reports on eight social entrepreneurs and interviews with three professional impact investors the author and WELT reporter Dr. Inga ...

Ten In One Scopes

by Gerrard Wilson

A wonderfully colourful memory from my childhood days are Ten in One Scopes. These instruments, these scientific instruments (printed upon each box, it stated, ‘scientific instrument, not a toy’) were everything us boys wanted, and then some. The girls in our school had absolutely no interest in them, and that suited us boys just fine. It left us free, at playtimes, to indulge our favourite pastime – playing with our Ten in One Scopes. According to the advertising literature, our ‘scientific instruments’ could be manipulated to perform ten entirely different functions: 1. Reading Lens 2. Compound Microscope 3. Adjustable Telescope 4. Focusing Binoculars 5. Directional Compass 6. Solar Time Clock 7. Flat Mirror 8. Magnifying Mirror 9. Camp Fire Lighter 10. Code Transmitter...
