How to Stop Being Jealous: Discover How to Overcome Jealousy Issues and Feel Secure in Your Relationship

by Reena Summers

If you're ready to improve your relationship by learning how to overcome jealousy, then this book is for you!
Read on your PC, Mac, smart phone, tablet, or Kindle device.

Let's face it: Occasionally there may be a valid reason for you to feel jealous and resentful because of something that your partner did (or failed to do). Unfortunately, this jealousy in turn affects and strains your relationship. But even worse are situations when the jealousy actually stems from your own feelings of inadequacy or insecurity. Too often, an otherwise healthy relationship is completely wrecked by too many suspicions and failing trust or faith in the other partner. All because of baseless and unfounded fits of jealousy. Thus, the focus of this book is to discuss (and eliminate) the latter scenario where we operate on the premise that there is nothing to be jealous about and these pangs of jealousy are only unfounded suspicions that need to be shed and swept away once and for all. Based on the assumption that the relationship is otherwise secure, stable, and healthy, the jealous partner (most likely you, since you're reading this) must learn to be able to contain any raging feelings of jealousy in order to make the relationship survive, thrive, and prosper for a full, secure, and happy life together. In this book you will find the help you're looking for, including assistance in developing the skills needed to help you understand the reality of your situation through a new perspective; tactics to help you rebuild your relationship and put it on the right path; guidelines for letting go of jealousy once and for all; and tips for sustaining a healthy relationship to ensure future success. So if you're finally ready to kick the green monster out of your life for good, then let's get started!

Qualitative Freedom - Autonomy in Cosmopolitan Responsibility

by Claus Dierksmeier

In the light of growing political and religious fundamentalism, this open access book defends the idea of freedom as paramount for the attempt to find common ethical ground in the age of globality. The book sets out to examine as yet unexhausted ways to boost the resilience of the principle of liberalism. Critically reviewing the last 200 years of the philosophy of freedom, it revises the principle of liberty in order to revive it. It discusses many different aspects that fall under its three main topics: the metaphysics of freedom, quantitative freedom and qualitative freedom.Open societies worldwide have come under increasing pressure in the last decades. The belief that politics and markets fare best when guided by the principle of liberty presently faces multiple challenges such as terrorism, climate warming, inequality, populism, and financial crises. In the view of its critics, the idea of freedom no longer offers adequate guidance to meet these challenges and should be partially corrected or even entirely replaced by countervailing values. Against the reduction of freedom to the merely quantitative question as to how much liberties individuals call their own, this book draws attention to the qualitative concerns which and whose opportunities society should foster. It argues that, correctly understood, the idea of liberty commits us to defend as well as advance the freedom of each and every world citizen.

Social Inequality, Childhood and the Media: A Longitudinal Study of the Mediatization of Socialisation (Transforming Communications – Studies in Cross-Media Research)

by Ingrid Paus-Hasebrink

This open access book presents a qualitative longitudinal panel-study on child and adolescent socialisation in socially disadvantaged families. The study traces how children and their parents make sense of media within the context of their everyday life over twelve years (from 2005 to 2017) and provides a unique perspective on the role of different socialisation contexts, drawing on rich data from a broad range of qualitative methods. Using a theoretical framework and methodological approach that can be applied transnationally, it sheds light on the complex interplay of factors which shape children’s socialisation and media usage in multiple ways.

Women's Work and Chicano Families: Cannery Workers of the Santa Clara Valley (The Anthropology of Contemporary Issues)

by Patricia Zavella

At the time Women’s Work and Chicano Families: Cannery Workers of the Santa Clara Valley was published, little research had been done on the relationship between the wage labor and household labor of Mexican American women. Drawing on revisionist social theories relating to Chicano family structure as well as on feminist theory, Patricia Zavella paints a compelling picture of the Chicano women who worked in northern California’s fruit and vegetable canneries. Her book combines social history, shop floor ethnography, and in-depth interviews to explore the links between Chicano family life and gender inequality in the labor market.

A Demographic Perspective on Gender, Family and Health in Europe

by Gabriele Doblhammer and Jordi Gumà

This open access book examines the triangle between family, gender, and health in Europe from a demographic perspective. It helps to understand patterns and trends in each of the three components separately, as well as their interdependencies. It overcomes the widely observable specialization in demographic research, which usually involves researchers studying either family or fertility processes or focusing on health and mortality. Coverage looks at new family and partnership forms among the young and middle-aged, their relationship with health, and the pathways through which they act. Among the old, lifelong family biography and present family situation are explored. Evidence is provided that partners advancing in age start to resemble each other more closely in terms of health, with the health of the partner being a crucial factor of an individual’s own health. Gender-specific health outcomes and pathways are central in the designs of the studies and the discussion of the results. The book compares twelve European countries reflecting different welfare state regimes and offers country-specific studies conducted in Austria, Germany, Italy - all populations which have received less attention in the past - and Sweden. As a result, readers discover the role of different concepts of family and health as well as comparisons within European countries and ethnic groups.  It will be an insightful resource for students, academics, policy makers, and researchers that will help define future research in terms of gender and public health.

Toward a US-China Investment Treaty

by Jeffrey J. Schott

The United States and China are the two largest economies in the world; in terms of direct investment in each other’s economies, they are also among the world’s underperformers. Negotiations to produce a US-China Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) could change that situation dramatically, delivering a significant economic payoff to both countries. In this volume, experts at the Peterson Institute for International Economics analyze the roadblocks to those talks and outline steps that a BIT must take to encourage foreign investment and to establish reciprocal rules for the treatment of firms and protection of investments. US-China BIT negotiations were initiated under the presidencies of George W. Bush and Hu Jintao, but progress faltered in 2008 as US economic priorities shifted in the Great Recession. Negotiations resumed in late 2014. Among the challenges are China’s historically less ambitious agreements, a laborious legislative process to enact investment treaties in the United States, US concerns about national security, and Chinese policies that impede foreign investment. Scholars examine these issues and possible ways to resolve them.

Limits to the European Union’s Normative Power in a Post-conflict Society: EULEX and Peacebuilding in Kosovo (SpringerBriefs in Population Studies)

by Rok Zupančič

By shedding light on EULEX - the EU mission to Kosovo – this open access book investigates the EU’s peacebuilding activities in that country, in the light of the normative power theory in the post-conflict setting and peacebuilding theory. Ten years after the massive engagement of the EU in the country torn by war, the authors critically assess the effects of the EU projecting its normative power – the enforcement of its standards, ‘good’ or ‘bad’ – through the EULEX mission, taking into consideration also the local aspects, so far neglected in this field of research. Inspecting thoroughly the EULEX activities in the police, customs and judiciary sector, the authors reveal that the mission can contribute to a positive change, but only in those cases which do not request a heavy political involvement and broad leverage by other international players (for example in improving standards of work in police and customs). When it comes to the most serious cases of organized crime, corruption and war crimes, EULEX, however, has not been able to address them effectively due to several internal mission’s deficiencies and external factors; the perceived ineffectiveness of EULEX among the local population led to the lowering of trust not only in this CSDP mission, but also in the EU in general.  This open access book offers a comprehensive assessment of the EULEX mission, based on two Horizon2020 research projects: IECEU - Improving the Effectiveness of Capabilities in EU Conflict Prevention, and KOSNORTH – The European Union and its Normative Power in a Post-conflict Society: A Case Study of Northern Kosovo (Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship). As such it is an invaluable resource for scholars, students and policymakers interested in security questions in South Eastern Europe and EU external action.

Junk Food Junkie: Kick Your Junk Food Habit By Understanding and Eliminating Your Cravings (obesity, snacks, eat healthy, good food, binge eating, pressure food, stress eating)

by Michael Walle

Learn How To Kick Your Junk Food Habit, Today!

Get this Kindle book for just $2.99. Read on your PC, Mac, smart phone, tablet or Kindle device.

The way the human body works is based on the way it evolved. Our ancestors craved fat and sugar because these provide high concentrations of calories which are necessary to fuel their strenuous days. They had to walk long distances to look for food, or else they had to run to hunt for animal flesh. They also had to fight or run fast to survive predators. Even after farming was developed resulting in a more stable supply of food, calorific foods were still preferred because it takes a lot of energy to work the land.
Regarding sugar, some historians argue that the human instinct for sweet foods developed to make us crave fruit. Before the discovery of sugar, the only naturally sweet foods are fruit which are full of vitamins. Our desire for sugar was originally supposed to make us desire nutritious food, not junk food.
Junk food is not called ‘junk’ for nothing. If you habitually eat too much of it, you will become obese, get sick and die early. Despite knowing this, if you are addicted to junk food, it will be very difficult to stop yourself from eating it. Fret not! This book will teach you how to finally end this harmful habit.

Western Spiritualist Philosophical System

by Daniel Aço

Daniel Aço is a Brazilian spiritualist thinker and writer. He was born in 1976 and lives in Porto Alegre.

During a long time, the author defined himself as a free thinker. Today, not giving up such solid definition destined to good Western thinkers, the author prefers to be a thinker with freedom.

In English language, Daniel Aço means Daniel Steel. The Providence wanted that a man with the steel strength was able to expose the truths said in this book, which, in its first month, deserved a translation into Spanish and into English.

This book is about a unique work, because it involves a combination and a critic interpretation about the Western Philosophy at light of the spiritual scholars and the spirituality in general. Daniel Aço is the first to do it, and does it with the mastery owned by him, fighting for the philosophical freedom of the goodwill humans, before the presumptuous academic world and the famous philosophical systems.

This work must mean to Philosophy and Spirituality the same that "Chariots of the Gods?” by Erich von Däniken, means to Ufology. As Däniken, Daniel Aço undertook in this book, without abandoning the past, a solid metaphysical index for the spiritual studies in the centuries to come. As Däniken, Daniel Aço will also be, eventually, misunderstood and mocked. However, his seed was already planted. And his light, projected.

However the author says that he doesn't mind if his work is original, or if it will sell two or twenty million copies, the work is innovative, even because exposes the alleged superiority of the Western philosophers and inserts the Spiritist Doctrine in the Western knowledge.

Its language is literary and there is a little bit of everything in its pages: literature, religion, psychology, metaphysics, moral, spirituality, philosophy, politics, sociology, ufology, science, causality, relativity, energy, mediumship, freedom, karma, reincarnation, satire, and much more. Finally, being a little biographic, the book can be a self-help book, for the person who reads it.

Nobody finishes reading this book as an untouchable being, not even its antagonists. Regarding them, by the way, the author doesn't really care – also because he will sell, alone, more copies than all these antagonists together.

Friedrich Nietzsche: A Brief Introduction to His Life and Work

by Richard P John

Friedrich Nietzsche was a German philosopher who, in a relatively brief career, challenged the foundations of Christianity, morality and the meaning of existence.
He introduced the concept of the Übermensch (Superman) - one who acts as his own God, is neither slave nor master, and is willing to risk all for the advancement of the human race
His writings have influenced many of the major thinkers and writers since his death at the beginning of the 20th century.
This book presents a brief biography of his remarkable life, and an introduction to most of his major writings.
