Salaah of Women in the Light of the Sunnah

by Madrasah Taleemuddeen South Africa, Mufti Zakaria Makada

Introduction

In every era there were specialists in the knowledge of Deen. Even in the time of the Sahaabah (R.A.), there were many Sahaabah (R.A.) who issued fatwas. According to Haafiz Ibnul Qayyim Rahimullah, there were over one undred and thirty such Sahaabah (R.A.).

In recent times, there is a movement pushing the masses to always ask for the proof and not blindly follow anyone. Beautiful slogans such as “follow only the Qur’aan and Sunnah” are used to whip up the sentiments of people. While the slogan is perfect, the object is to drive people away from “taqleed”(following) of one of the four Imaams of Fiqh, viz. Imaam Abu Hanifa, Imaam Maalik, Imaam Shaafi’ee and Imaam Ahmad bin Hambal Rahimullah.

We hope with the help of Allah Ta'ala that this treatise will prove beneficial in establishing that every aspect of the salaah as explained by these Imaams conformed to the Sunnah. Apart from explaining the importance of salaah as well as the entire method of the salaah of a female proven from the Ahaadith, we will also discuss certain pertinent masaail regarding salaah which the Salafis make an issue of (e.g. women attending congregational salaah, their salaah being identical to the salaah of men, etc.). It should be noted that when explaining the method of salaah of women, we have sufficed on presenting authentic Ahaadith with providing their sources from the respective compilations. We have also explained the position and status of the Ahaadith as reported from the respective Imaams of Hadith.

We make dua that Allah Ta’ala accept this effort and make it a means of the Ummah being guided towards the path of the Sunnah.

Meeting of Two Seas: Where the heart leads the mind

by Saeed Malik

“Eye-opening in terms of the parity between the Abrahamic faiths, this fine model of scriptural analysis merits study by mystics of any faith.” Kirkus Reviews

This book is a follow-up to A perspective on the Signs of Al-Quran: Through the Prism of the Heart. Here the heart leads the mind on a journey into the eighteenth chapter of the Holy Quran. This chapter, known as Surah Kahf, has captivated seekers across the ages for its living spiritual appeal.
Meeting of two Seas is about a journey which Moses undertakes with Khidr. Though this journey is short, it continues to open doors to others, through our awakening to the meetings of many sets of two seas around us: The meeting of the manifested real and the hidden Real; the meeting of the temporal and the eternal; the meeting of the empirical with the spiritual; and the meeting of physical causes with the Spiritual Cause. Our consciousness too stands at the nexus of the seas of our very own inner and outer selves. When the heart and the mind come to a meld—the coming together of taddabur and taffakur—there is no turning back and no end to the joyous journey toward the shores and sea of the Arabic Quran. The i’jaz of the Quran is its unfathomable ability to lead us to a scent of the REAL and toward a sense of belonging to IT.

Preserving a Sunnah - 100 Short Authentic Hadith

by Fisabilillah Organization Authenticate Ulama's Organization

Sunnah means way or practice. In Islamic terminology, it refers to any act performed, verbally encouraged, or sanctioned by the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) by being performed in his presence or knowledge and not being disapproved of. This is also known as Hadith.

The wisdom of the Prophet (PBUH) since the dawn of his mission, served to inspire, guide, enlighten, and heal millions through the journey of life.

The book in your hands is a compilation of a hundred Ahadith (plural of Hadith), of mostly the second type of Sunnah, words of advice and teachings related to man and his relationship with his Maker, fellow human beings, and himself, i.e. something which can be implicated in day to day life.

The main purpose of this compilation is that the reader is able to memorize and practice the Ahadith. The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said,

“He who learns forty Ahadith with regards to my Ummah,
in relationship to religious injunctions,
Allah will raise him as a Faqih (Jurist),
and I will be an intercessor and a witness for him
on the Day of Judgment.” al Bayhaqi in Shua`bul Eman

The Islamic Guide to Happiness: Spiritual Reflections on Depression

by Idris Salik

What does the Islamic tradition say about depression? In many Muslim societies depression is viewed as taboo. One often hears in the refrain that "to despair is to sin" or that one should simply "put one's trust in Allah" in spite of the pain. In this book Idris Salik approaches the topic of depression with compassion and understanding while presenting us with practical advice grounded in an Islamic perspective. Salik explores the nature of depression through the perspective of Islamic history, theology and spirituality. He also draws on the ideas of the Chilean thinker Artur Manfred Max Neef and his ideas around the fundamental human needs arguing that these are universals which Islam promotes. In addition to this, Salik draws on his own battle with the "Black Dog" as well as providing countless anonymous anecdotes collected from family and friends who also suffer from the disease of melancholia. What emerges is a reflective book with spiritual insights and practical advice rooted in the Islamic tradition.

Importance of Maintaining Family Ties in Islam

by Sheikhul Hadith Maulana Muhammad Zakariyya Kandehlawi (RA)

Introduction

This booklet is part of the book Fazaail-e-Sadaqaat, written by Hadhrat Sheikhul Hadith, Moulana Muhammad Zakariyya (RA). In the introduction Hadhrat writes, “Special emphasis has been laid in the Holy Qur'an and the Ahaadith on maintaining good family ties. Rasulullah j has said that, the reward for Sadaqah given to one’s own family is doubled.

When Ummul Mu’mineen Hadhrat Maimunah (RA) set free a slave-girl, Rasulullah [PBUH] told her that it would have been better if she had given her away to her own uncle. Hence, if there is no other important religious duty, it is better to give Sadaqah to a relative rather than to anyone else. However, in meeting a religious need for the cause of Allah, the reward is multiplied seven hundred times. Numerous encouraging rewards are promised in the Holy Qur'an and Ahaadith for the maintaining of family ties, while punishments are indicated for breaking relationships.

If all of these were to be covered, the book would become too voluminous. Therefore, only a few Aayaat about the virtues and punishments have been selected and thereafter a few Ahaadith have been discussed.”

All praise is due to Allah Ta’ala, The Supreme Master of all the worlds. Countless Durood and Salaam be upon our beloved Nabi, Sayyidina Muhammad( PBUH ).

Ziyarah & Salam: Visit to Madinah Munawwarah & 40 Salwat on our beloved Nabi Sayyidina Muhammad( PBUH ) (Hajj & Umrah: Journey of Life Time - A Complete Guide for Hajj & Umrah Book 1)

by Fisabilillah Organization Authenticate Ulama's Organization

ZIYARAH

Ziyarah literally means to visit. In the light of the Shariah it means to travel to Madinah to offer salutations and pay tribute to the Prophet [PBUH] and his Masjid.

There is no Miqat or Ihram for Madinah, although this does not take away from its sanctity, as again one has more reason to stay away from sins. (This again does not justify sinning elsewhere.)

Access to staying in Madinah is available all the time according to Shariah. Also no maximum/minimum time limit exists. However one should try to stay in Madinah for at least 8 days, so as to allow the performing of 40 Salah with Jamaah.

“Whoever offers 40 Salah in my Masjid, not missing even one Salah, for him is written (assured) freedom from the fire, delivery from punishment, and freedom from hypocrisy.” Ahmad

SALAWAT

The salawat provided in this book have been thoroughly researched, to ensure that they are as accurately represented as possible.

We have referred to the original sources of Ahadith when compiling this book to ensure that no accidental misrepresentations are included.

In praise of his accomplishments and his perfected character, Allah Taala states;

Allah and His angels send Blessings on the Prophet (Muhammad [PBUH]) O you who believe! Invoke blessings upon him too and send abundant greetings of peace. al Azhab 56

Allah Taala has not only permitted the sending of salutations upon the Prophet [PBUH], but has ordained reward in lieu of it. The most significant of which are; for it is an expression of love for the beloved of Allah. Whoever prays once for blessings upon Muhammad is blessed himself ten times over by the One who sent him. Muslim

This is Allah’s Taala sheer blessing upon us that we should be rewarded for thanking Allah’s Messenger [PBUH] for what he has done for us. As love for the Messenger is a part of Iman, so should we make Salawat upon him a part of our daily routine.

We should all know what it teaches. This small book provides the most essential Quran chapters, translated into modern English. What is Islam? What do Muslims believe? Is Islam a religion of peace? The teachings of the Quran are now within easy reach.[The Heifer 62]Those who believe, and those who are Jewish, and the Christians, and the Sabeans-any who believe in God and the Last Day, and act righteously-will have their reward with their Lord; they have nothing to fear, nor will they grieve.[Monotheism 1-4]In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.1. The Four Light - Suarh al-Mulk Surah as-Sajdah Surah ar-Rahman Surah al-Waqi'ah: Arabic and English Language with English Translation

by Fisabilillah Organization Authenticate Ulama's Organization

The Qur’an should be recited daily so that in short spaces of time entire recitations are completed. This is something that many are punctual with in Ramadan, however, it is not something that is exclusive to that month. It’s blessings transcend to every instance in our lives. To facilitate this, a table has been included at the end of this book which we can use to encourage and remind ourselves of this manner of pleasing Allah Ta’ala. Either we can tick a day when we reach a specific goal of verses/pages each day, or we can insert a number (to represent verses/pages) if our daily timetables are unpredictable or inconstant. In this manner we can still try to read a fixed number of pages per dayOne should try to aim for a Juz (Parah) a day. If one is trying to create a habit and this is too much, start smaller, e.g. a few pages. With the gradual build up of speed and comfort in reading, one will be able to set this or even higher goals. One should also try and read the Qur’an with a reputable translation at hand so one can reflect upon the meaning of what is recited. This is why the translation has also been included in this publication (and also our other Publications). With this addition we hope that our recitation of the Qur’an will rise above a repetition of unknown words, and progress to giving audience to the Words of Allah Ta’ala, and taking the commands and advices of Allah Ta’ala to heart. The chapters of the Qur’an presented in this book are those which should be recited daily. If one is not able to recite so much comfortably, then one should start with one or even part of one of these Surahs daily. The specific benefits for reciting each of these chapters are mentioned under their separate headings.

The Story of Prophet Adam In Islam

by Muhammad Vandestra

Prophet Adam is believed to have been the first human being and (Prophet) on Earth, in Islam. Adam's role as the father of the human race is looked upon by Muslims with reverence. Muslims also refer to his wife, Hawa (Eve), as the "mother of mankind". Muslims see Prophet Adam as the first Muslim, as the Qur'an states that all the Prophets preached the same faith of Islam (Submission to One God). The Qur'an and hadith give the same account of the creation of Adam and Eve. Synthesizing the Qur'an with Sunni hadith can produce the following account. According to the Qur'an, when Allah (God) informed the angels that he was going to put a successor on Earth, they questioned whether the human would cause blood shed and damage, but he told them that he knew what they did not. He created Adam from clay and breathed life into him. Hadith add that he was named Adam after the clay he was made out of, or the skin (adim) of the earth. Returning to the Qur'an, when God asked all the angels to prostrate before Adam, they all obeyed, except Iblis (Lucifer). He said, "I am made from fire, when Adam is from clay. I am better than him. I am not going to prostrate before him."Sunni hadith say that while Adam was sleeping, God took a rib from him and from it he created Eve (Hawa); however, while the creation of Adam and Eve is referred to in the Qur'an, the exact method of creation is not specified. The Qur'an then says that God commanded that Adam and Eve not eat from one tree in the garden of Eden, but Iblis (Lucifer) was able to convince them to taste it. They then began to cover themselves because they now knew that they were naked. For this, God banished Adam and Eve to earth; non-canonical Sunni hadith say that fruits were turned to thorns and pregnancy became dangerous. Non-canonical Sunni hadith also say that Adam and Eve were cast down far apart, so that they had to search for each other and eventually met each other at Mount Arafat. In Islamic theology, it is not believed that Adam's sin is carried by all of his children. Hadith say that once Prophet Adam was on earth, God taught him how to plant seeds and bake bread. This was to become the way of all of Adam's children, Prophet Adam proceeded to live for about 1000 years.

Buddhist and Islamic Orders in Southern Asia: Comparative Perspectives

by R. Michael Feener

Over the last few decades historians and other scholars have succeeded in identifying diverse patterns of connection linking religious communities across Asia and beyond. Yet despite the fruits of this specialist research, scholars in the subfields of Islamic and Buddhist studies have rarely engaged with each other to share investigative approaches and methods of interpretation. This volume was conceived to open up new spaces of creative interaction between scholars in both fields that will increase our understanding of the circulation and localization of religious texts, institutional models, ritual practices, and literary specialists. The book’s approach is to scrutinize one major dimension of the history of religion in Southern Asia: religious orders. “Orders” (here referring to Sufi ṭarīqas and Buddhist monastic and other ritual lineages) established means by which far-flung local communities could come to be recognized and engaged as part of a broader world of co-religionists, while presenting their particular religious traditions and their human representatives as attractive and authoritative to potential new communities of devotees. Contributors to the volume direct their attention toward analogous developments mutually illuminating for both fields of study. Some explain how certain orders took shape in Southern Asia over the course of the nineteenth century, contextualizing these institutional developments in relation to local and transregional political formations, shifting literary and ritual preferences, and trade connections. Others show how the circulation of people, ideas, texts, objects, and practices across Southern Asia, a region in which both Buddhism and Islam have a long and substantial presence, brought diverse currents of internal reform and notions of ritual and lineage purity to the region. All chapters draw readers’ attention to the fact that networked persons were not always strongly institutionalized and often moved through Southern Asia and developed local bases without the oversight of complex corporate organizations.Buddhist and Islamic Orders in Southern Asia brings cutting-edge research to bear on conversations about how “orders” have functioned within these two traditions to expand and sustain transregional religious networks. It will help to develop a better understanding of the complex roles played by religious networks in the history of Southern Asia.

The Making of Islamic Heritage: Muslim Pasts and Heritage Presents (Heritage Studies in the Muslim World)

by Trinidad Rico

This book is open access under a CC BY 4.0 license. Offering key insights into critical debates on the construction, management and destruction of heritage in Muslim contexts, this volume considers how Islamic heritages are constructed through texts and practices which award heritage value. It examines how the monolithic representation of Islamic heritage (as a singular construct) can be enriched by the true diversity of Islamic heritages and how endangerment and vulnerability in this type of heritage construct can be re-conceptualized. Assessing these questions through an interdisciplinary lens including heritage studies, anthropology, history, conservation, religious studies and archaeology, this pivot covers global and local examples including heritage case studies from Indonesia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Jordan, and Pakistan.

The Life of Prophet Muhammad [PBUH]: Seerah of Prophet Muhammad [PBUH]

by Ahmad Baandwi Saheb

In every era numerous authors have written books of various sizes on the seerah (life) of Nabi [PBUH]. This service is still continuing and an assortment of gems will continue to be discovered from this vast ocean.

There is no doubt that this insignificant individual does not possess the expertise required for this field. However, time and again this idea had surfaced that something should be written on this sacred topic regardless of the result with the hope that it may be a means of my salvation in the hereafter.

Thus, I undertook the task of compiling this small book by extracting different aspects from the various books authored on seerah.

I have taken special care to ensure that the language is of an understandable and simple level.

May Allah Ta'ala crown this effort with His acceptance and allow it to be beneficial for one and all. May it also be a means of my salvation in the hereafter.

Wisdom of the Quran

by Mhamed Aboulalaa

The Quran is an exceptional book. It is the holy book of Islam and, most importantly, is considered as the literal words (verbatim) of God and not a human inspired text. Its content encompasses a wide range of subjects: information about God, arguments about His existence and Unity, the Creation, the evidences for that, moral values, prescription about the relationship of Man to God, messages about human destiny such as the hereafter, life after death. These subjects are also linked to the questions of the purpose of life, of man's existence, to which the Quran provides clarifications and answers. The Quran is a book that provides both guidance and moral references to men and senses to life and existence. It is a highly specific and subtle book in every aspect and it will be shown that the Quran (along with the Prophet Muhammed tradition) is, in fact, a message of wisdom, tolerance and moral improvement for humankind, to all the people. The purpose of this book is, first to present concisely the main lines of the message and parts of the wisdom contained in the Quran, and second to provide an introduction that helps for an exhaustive reading of the Text.

Responding to Muslim Arguments Against Christianity

by Cody Cook

This essay will focus on a handful of claims that conservative Muslim apologists often make about Christianity and the New Testament. It is the author's hope that this work will help the Christian reader to have a basic level understanding of how Muslims approach Jesus and the New Testament (and why this approach simply misses the mark), and that the Muslim reader will be challenged to consider the validity of the arguments which he probably hears most commonly against the Christian faith.

As a note on format, each section will begin with a short paraphrase of a common conservative Muslim argument and will then be followed by a Christian response. The claims being responded to are:
1. The Bible has been so corrupted that it can't be trusted.
2. The New Testament authors wrote at least four decades after Jesus, so they can't be trusted to be accurate historians.
3. In Mark 10:17-22, Jesus claims that he is not good, but that only God is good. Thus, Jesus was claiming that he is not God. In this same passage, Jesus also claims that the way to salvation is keeping the commandments, which goes against the Christian belief that salvation comes from Jesus' sacrifice.
4. Paul invented Christianity.
5. In the Bible, God declares: “Understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me” (Isaiah 43:10). This means that Jesus cannot be God since there is only one God.
6. The doctrine of the Trinity is polytheistic.
7. If we are saved by faith, as Christians teach, then we can sin as much as we want.

INTRODUCTION

Praise be to Allah, we thank Him, seek His Help and His Forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evils of ourselves and that of our bad deeds. He whom Allah guides, is truly guided, and he whom Allah leaves to stray, none can guide him. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, who has no partner and I bear witness that Muhammad (PBUH) is His Messenger.

This publication is a compilation of forty such verses, which are supplications imploring Allah for favours, all of which start with beseeching Allah with His title of the Lord of all.

The Meaning of Surah 10 Yunus (Prophet Jonah AS) From Holy Quran (Священный Коран) Bilingual Edition English and Russian Standar Version

by Jannah Firdaus Mediapro

The Meaning of Surah 10 Yunus (Prophet Jonah AS) From Holy Quran (Священный Коран) Bilingual Edition English and Russian Standar Version.Yunus (Jonah) is the 10th chapter (surah) of the Quran with 109 verses (ayat). Yunus is named after the Prophet Yunus AS (Jonah). According to traditional islamic chronology (asbab al-nuzul), it is believed to have been formulated or "revealed" before the migration of Prophet Muhammad SAW and his followers from Mecca to Medina, as such, it is known as a Meccan surah. The initial verses of the chapter (1–70) presents an argumentative dialogue between Islam and its unbelievers. The rest contains the stories of Prophet Nuh AS (Noah), Prophet Musa AS (Moses) and Prophet Yunus AS (Jonah), all considered prophets in Islam. The chapter also mentions the People of Jonah, who at first rejected Prophet Yunus AS (Jonah) message, but then repented and believed. Therefore, unlike the people of Noah and Moses, they were averted from Allah SWT (God) punishment. The mention of Jonah in verse 98 gives the chapter its name.

Dignity in the 21st Century: Middle East and West (SpringerBriefs in Philosophy)

by Doris Schroeder

This book is open access under a CC BY license. This book offers a unique and insightful analysis of Western and Middle Eastern concepts of dignity and illustrates them with examples of everyday life.Dignity in the 21st Century - Middle East and West is unique and insightful for a range of reasons. First, the book is co-authored by scholars from two different cultures (Middle East and West). As a result, the interpretations of dignity covered are broader than those in most Western publications. Second, the ambition of the book is to use examples from everyday life and fiction to debate a range of dignity interpretations supplemented by philosophical and theological theories. Thus, the book is designed to be accessible to a general readership, which is further facilitated because it is published with full open access. Third, the book does not defend one superior theory of dignity, but instead presents six Western approaches and one based on the Koran and then asks whether a common essence can be detected. The answer to the question whether a common essence can be detected between the Koranic interpretation of dignity and the main Western theories (virtue, Kant) is YES. The essence can be seen in dignity as a sense of self-worth, which persons have a duty to develop and respect in themselves and a duty to protect in others. The book ends with two recommendations. First, given the 7 concepts of dignity introduced in the book, meaningful dialogue can only be achieved if conversation partners clarify which variation they are using. Second, future collaborations between philosophers and psychologists might be helpful in moving theoretical knowledge on dignity as a sense of self-worth into practical action. The “scourges” of a sense of self-worth and dignity are identified by psychologists as violence, humiliation, disregard and embarrassment. To know more about how these can be avoided from psychologists, is helpful when protecting a sense of self-worth in others.

Witness to Marvels: Sufism and Literary Imagination (Islamic Humanities Book 2)

by Tony K. Stewart

A free open access ebook is available upon publication. Learn more at www.luminosoa.org.  There is a vast body of imaginal literature in Bengali that introduces fictional Sufi saints into the complex mythological world of Hindu gods and goddesses. Dating to the sixteenth century, the stories—pir katha—are still widely read and performed today. The events that play out rival the fabulations of the Arabian Nights, which has led them to be dismissed as simplistic folktales, yet the work of these stories is profound: they provide fascinating insight into how Islam habituated itself into the cultural life of the Bangla-speaking world. In Witness to Marvels, Tony K. Stewart unearths the dazzling tales of Sufi saints to signal a bold new perspective on the subtle ways Islam assumed its distinctive form in Bengal.

The First Domino: The Systematic Collapse Of My Belief In Allah

by Idris Hasan

What is life without faith? My faith had always been in Allah and in Islam, the final religion for all mankind. The promises of Allah were not beliefs, they were facts of life. The Prophet Muhammad, my Prophet, was the last and final Messenger of Allah, a perfect human being sent as a guide for the whole world. He had brought us the Quran, the last revelation from Allah revealed to him by the Angel Jibraeel, a miraculous book of perfection meant to guide people from all walks of life until the end of days. My purpose in life became worshiping Allah and calling others towards him. So how was it that I ended up becoming a Muslim apostate? In this very raw personal account I would like to share my life experiences from being raised in a Muslim Pakistani family living in Canada, growing up to be a devoted Muslim, to eventually and with great difficulty journeying out of Islam. During my journey I had found faith to be a powerful virtue in life, and made a decision not to abandon faith, but rather to redirect my faith.

Safety & Security: In the light of Hadith and Quranic verses

by Authenticate Ulama's Organization, Fisabilillah Organization

INTRODUCTION

Whatever Rasulullah [PBUH] has said, is the absolute truth and Haqq. There cannot be an iota of doubt in this. If he taught the Ummah to recite any ayah, wazifah or du`a for their safety against any eventuality, no Muslim would doubt the authenticity of that. They would recite such an ayah, wazifah or du`a, believing with conviction that its recitation would afford him safety only through the will of Allah Ta’ala.

On one occasion Rasulullah [PBUH] advised a companion to tie his camel and then rely on Allah Ta’ala for its safety. It is clear from the above that confining oneself to the recitation of the relevant verses, wazaif and du`a, and not adopting the physical and practical security measures, is in conflict to the teachings of the Qur’an and Ahadith. One is compelled by Shari'ah, to adopt physical as well as spiritual measures against crime and calamities. Physical would be, amongst other things, locking and securing one's property while spiritual would mean to recite Ayatul Kursi, the four Quls and salaah. The one compliments the other. Through the barakah of both types of measures, Allah Ta’ala will give the reader the safety he needs, Insha-Allah.

A Description of the Prophet [ PBUH ]: The Prophet Muhammad [ PBUH ]

by Fisabilillah Organization Ulama's Organization

INTRODUCTION

It is in the very nature of man to imitate. Since his infantile phase, man begins to observe, perceiving what those around him do, and then adopt selected behavior. For decades psychologists have debated why we copy others. Irrespective of the various theories presented, it is common knowledge that man imitates.

Often, role models are adopted. Someone who leads or has led an exemplary life that we admire and feel we can emulate easily becomes the object of admiration. An ideal role model, due to his greatness, presents us with the opportunity to follow and imitate and reap something of that greatness ourselves.

Many will copy their role models to the extent that they will wish that their own physical appearance be like that of their role models. This will lead them to having their hair cut in a similar manner, updating their wardrobe to match that of their role model’s or even spending a great amount of money on cosmetic surgery to have a similar face or physique.

We may now and then boast that our true role model is the Messenger of Allah ta’ala, we may even be true to this great claim, but the question is how much do we really know about him? Most of us are completely oblivious to the appearance, physique, clothing, habits, mannerism and character of the great Prophet, while knowing every detail of the so-called celebrities of today, which is really telling to who really occupiers our hearts.

This book has been compiled to give the reader a brief insight to the person of the Prophet PBUH; who he was, what he looked like and how he interacted with other people.

Exposure to beauty cultivates beauty. We pray that this book be an aide for us in following the beautiful ways of the Beloved of Allah ta’ala and a means of our salvation in the Hereafter.

On the Harmony of Religions and Philosophy (Golden Deer Classics)

by

In this treatise Ibn Rushd (Averroes) sets out to show that the Scriptural Law (shar') of Islam does not altogether prohibit the study of philosophy by Muslims, but, on the contrary, makes it a duty for a certain class of people, those with the capacity for "demonstrative" or scientific reasoning. Apparent conflicts between the teachings of Scripture and philosophy can be reconciled by allegorical interpretations of Scripture, though such interpretations should not be taught to the common people.

It is natural in this life that people will suffer worries and stress, because this world is a place of disease, hardship and suffering. It is also natural in this life that people have to put up with suffering and hardship for various reasons, as is indicated in the Qur’an:

What Is Islam Faith?

by Muhammad Vandestra

Among the blessings and favors that God has bestowed upon humanity is that He endowed them with an innate ability to recognize and acknowledge His existence.  He placed this awareness deep in their hearts as a natural disposition that has not changed since human beings were first created.  Furthermore, He reinforced this natural disposition with the signs that he placed in creation that testify to His existence.  However, since it is not possible for human beings to have a detailed knowledge of God except through revelation from Himself, God sent His Messengers to teach the people about their Creator Who they must worship.  These Messengers also brought with them the details of how to worship God, because such details cannot be known except by way of revelation.  These two fundamentals were the most important things that the Messengers of all the divine revelations brought with them from God. The ultimate goal of every Divine Message has always been the same: to guide the people to God, to make them aware of Him, and to have them worship Him alone.  Each Divine Message came to strengthen this meaning, and the following words were repeated on the tongues of all the Messengers: “Worship God, you have no god other than Him.” This message was conveyed to humanity by prophets and messengers which God sent to every nation.  All of these messengers came with this same message, the message of Islam.

The Qur'an: A Concise Literary English Translation

by Laith Al-Doory

A Concicise Literary English TranslationMy main compulsion for producing this work was the conviction that I could bring a somewhat greater clarity and fluidity to the prose of translators that had gone before, especially for readers whose mother tongue is English. A text containing countless explanatory notes within brackets is a mark of a bad translation. Furthermore, for the purpose of conveying something of the gravitas of the original Arabic text, it is not a simple matter of translating the Qur’an into basic English. However, the primary reason I decided to maintain the archaic English grammar of earlier translations is because it differentiates between the singular and plural you, which is imperative for ascertaining when God addresses His messenger, Mohammed. The Qur’an is not like the Gospels, which read as accounts of the life and sayings of Jesus compiled by various third parties. The Qur’an should be read as a direct, channelled dialogue from God to His messenger, and in that regard reads more like the Pentateuch. Please Take a Look Inside

Essential Dua's in the life of a Muslim - 95 Dua's in one Book

by Kzn ( South Africa ), Jamiatul Ulama - Ta’limi Board

All praise is due to Allah Ta’ala, The Supreme Master of all the worlds. Countless Durood and Salaam be upon our beloved Nabi, Sayyidina Muhammad( PBUH ).

We have been taught by Rasulullah( PBUH ) to recite duas at different occasions of our life. From the time we awaken till the time we go to sleep we have been taught to recite these duas. In this manner our entire day passes in the remembrance of Allah Ta’ala. It is mentioned in the Hadith that Rasulullah( PBUH ) used to remember Allah Ta’ala at all times. A great amount of the constant remembrance was by means of the recitation of the duas for the various occasions. The recitation of these duas also strengthens our bond with Allah Ta’ala and increases the love for our Creator in our hearts.

Parents need to play the very important role of constantly encouraging and reminding their children to recite the duas at the appropriate time. Thus when the child is woken up in the morning, before he enters the toilet and after he leaves, before and after eating and at all other occasions, the parents should remind the child to recite the dua. In this way it will become a part of their lives and the purpose of teaching these duas will be achieved, Insha Allah.

Cicada Spring: A Novel

by Christian Galacar

On a warm May evening in the spring of 1979, the people of Heartsridge, Massachusetts, are living the American dream. Families are gathered for barbecues. Kids are playing in front yards. Gardens are being kept. Meanwhile, Kara Price stumbles home through the woods, raped and beaten, her life shattered by a wicked act of violence, perpetrated by one of the town’s most beloved and public figures.

Surrounding Kara is a cast of compelling and nefarious characters—a violent-tempered mayor who can do no wrong in the eyes of the town, a sheriff bound by the rules and plagued by a guilty conscience, a father bent on revenge, a serial killer in the midst of an identity crisis. And at the center of it all there's Kara, who just wants to move on with her life and forget everything that happened to her. But how can she do that when everyone thinks she is a liar who is only out for attention? With plot and emotion braided together by a careful hand, this haunted group of people all acting on behalf of their own interests begs the question: How far would you go to protect your own?

Language between God and the Poets: Ma‘na in the Eleventh Century (Berkeley Series in Postclassical Islamic Scholarship Book 2)

by Alexander Key

A free ebook version of this title is available through Luminos, University of California Press’s Open Access publishing program. Visit www.luminosoa.org to learn more. In the Arabic eleventh-century, scholars were intensely preoccupied with the way that language generated truth and beauty. Their work in poetics, logic, theology, and lexicography defined the intellectual space between God and the poets. In Language Between God and the Poets, Alexander Key argues that ar-Raghib al-Isfahani, Ibn Furak, Ibn Sina (Avicenna), and Abd al-Qahir al-Jurjani shared a conceptual vocabulary based on the words ma‘na and haqiqah. They used this vocabulary to build theories of language, mind, and reality that answered perennial questions: how to structure language and reference, how to describe God, how to construct logical arguments, and how to explain poetic affect.

200 Questions about the Bible and the Qur'an: A Comparison of the Holy Books Showing Important Similarities and Differences

by Dan Wickwire

Would you like objective answers to important spiritual questions, answered directly by the Bible and the Qur'an? This book addresses 200 spiritual questions every Muslim believer should consider and uses scripture as the answers to the questions. Clarifying notes are added if needed, though rarely, instead letting the Holy Books speak for themselves.200 Questions about the Bible and the Qur'an answers questions such as these:Is it accepted that the Holy Bible is the Word of God? (Tevrat, Zebur & Injil) Does God want to protect all of His Holy Books from change and corruption? (Purpose /Niyet) Are the “God” of the Bible and the “Allah” of the Qur’an one and the same entity? In the Holy Books when God refers to Himself, does He ever speak in the first person plural “We”? Does God look on believers as being merely His slaves or servants? Is the Holy Spirit accepted as God? Is it accepted that Christ is the one and only mediator between God and man? Is it accepted that Christ is alive today and that he will come again? Is Muhammad’s self-proclamation of being a prophet a valid test or proof of prophethood? Does a holy God take small sins seriously? Is a person’s salvation contingent upon their own good works? (Ameller) Will everyone have to spend a period of time suffering in hell? Are women required to wear a veil outside the home? Did God create people in His own image and likeness? Did God promise the land of Palestine specifically to the Jews?About the AuthorDan Wickwire was born in California in 1951 and grew up in the city of Bakersfield. Surah Yasin - The Heart of the Qura'n: Arabic and English Language with English Translation

by Jamiatul Ulama Kzn

Surah Yasin was revealed in Makkah with eighty-three verses arranged into five sections. Surah Yasin begins with affirming of Muhammad’s [PBUH] prophethood by invoking the Qur’an, the book of wisdom and assuring him that he is on the right guidance.

Then it proceeds to describe the fate of the inhabitants of a certain settlement; they repudiated the prophets sent to them and invited
Allah’s wrath on themselves which wiped them off the face of earth. This account of the attitude of the people of the settlement makes a very significant point; the truth which the high, proud and sophisticated people of the city failed to see was recognized by a simple, lowly man from the suburbs.

After narrating the story of the settlement the surah once again calls upon people to observe and ponder over the vast and varied phenomena of nature – from the stars and planets to the rich
productivity of earth – and decide who else but the supreme being who created and subjected the entire universe to an ordered, integrated system is worthy of worship.

The surah also declares that the prophet is not a poet and that what he preaches is the Message of Allah I whose knowledge has no bounds, and not imaginary tales, exaggerated descriptions and false assertions (which are the stock-in-trade of decadent poets).

All praise is due to Allah Ta’ala, The Supreme Master of all the worlds. Countless Durood and Salaam be upon our beloved Nabi, Sayyidina Muhammad( PBUH ).

Juz 'Amma - Part 30 of the Qur'an

by Authenticate Ulama's Organization

INTRODUCTION

The Qur’an is the Protected Word of Allah. It is protected by Allah Himself from any possibility of change, error or contradictions. It is His Word as it has no input besides His own. For Muslims it is the Basis of Islam itself, as the fundamental teachings of the din stem from this Divine source.

The last Juz’ (or Para - section) is a collection of the shortest chapters of the Qur’an. While these chapters may be short in length, the depth of their verses and the forcefulness and power of their messages give this section a significance of its own.

These short chapters can be very easily learnt by people who can read Arabic as well as those who cannot. An obvious advantage of committing even a few of these to heart is that one has a portion of the Qur’an to recite in Salah, the second pillar and primary Fard act for Muslims. It is thus recommended that at least the last ten Surahs are committed to memory.

We remind the readers of the importance of the correct pronunciation of each letter and the correct recitation of all the intertwining words and passages. This is Tajwid, and it is a science which must be practically acquired. We, therefore, re-emphasise the need of learning how to read Arabic, from someone competent as this cannot be done otherwise, even with the very best of transliterations.

May Allah enlighten our lives around its wisdom.

Has the Bible Been Changed?: The Reliability of the Scriptures According to Jewish, Christian, and Islamic Sources

by Dan Wickwire

Muslims all over the world are ignoring the message of the New Testament because their teachers say its text has been corrupted. Yet very few of them have checked to see whether what their teachers say is true.
- David Byle, chairman of the Bible Correspondence Course in Turkey (bccturkey.org)

What does it take to persuade an entire Islamic nation to recall and rewrite their religious education materials in order to no longer teach that the Bible has been changed? Only one thing: the Qur’an itself. The Qur’an clearly states that the Bible has not been changed and, even more shockingly, says that anyone who teaches that the Bible has been changed is in fact doomed to hell.

This book, Has the Bible Been Changed?, was the reason that in 1996 the Department of Religious Affairs in Turkey recalled their existing teaching materials. As you explore these pages, you will see exactly what the Qur’an says that is so powerful that even Islamic leaders are caused to reverse course. But this book is not persuasive with many words. Rather, it shows the reader Scripture verses and other pertinent facts that will help lead one to the ultimate Truth, that there is indeed only one God, and the way to Him is through His Son, Jesus Christ. It behooves you to read this book to know that you can put your faith and confidence in the entire Bible, that it is indeed the unchangeable, inerrant Word of God.

And we did give Moses the guidance and made the Children of Israel to inherit the Scripture. A guide and a reminder for men of understanding (Mu’min 40:53-54).

Medicine of the Prophet [ PBUH ]: Tibb an-Nabi

by Fisabilillah Organization Authenticate Ulama's Organization

Introduction‘You have indeed in the Messenger of Allah a model for any one whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day, and who engages much in the praise of Allah.’ Qur’an, al-Ahzab 33:21Rasulullah [PBUH] was the final Prophet, sent to mankind by Allah to guide it away from deviancy towards the straight path. He was the best of creation who taught us not only that which would lead us, if fully implemented, to Paradise in terms of worship and beliefs, but also that which help us all live enhanced and easier lives in this world. His teachings were comprehensive in every sense, a fact recognized by even the non-Muslims of his time and of time to come.Salman [R.A.] related that one Mushrik (polytheist) said, ‘I see that your associate (i.e. the Prophet [PBUH]) teaches you everything, even the method of using the toilet.’ Upon hearing this Salman [R.A.] proudly confirmed that this was very much the truth. a l – H a k i mOf his many teachings relating to life in this world, some related to health and how an attempt could be made to conserve this great niamah (favour) from Allah.Ibn `Abbas [R.A.] reported that he heard Rasulullah [PBUH] say, ‘There are two favours in regards to which most people are in a loss, good health and free time.’ al-BukhariRasulullah [PBUH] taught numerous cures, many of which have since been discovered and used by modern-day medicine. The teachings taught by Rasulullah [PBUH] regarding health and cures from different illnesses were way ahead of their time, confirming the fact that they were indeed divine teachings.Tibb has since developed into a very complex field requiring years of study and experience, which cannot all be compiled into one short book. Therefore, those practices and cures which can be traced back directly to Rasulullah [PBUH] have been compiled together in this short booklet in an attempt to educate and thereafter benefit the reader.
