Marriage, Infidelity and Divorce:: What does the Bible say about it?

Countless books and articles have been written about marriage, sex, infidelity and divorce. What does God say about it, however? After all, he was the one that instituted marriage. Therefore, he should know more about it than anyone else. In this little book, I will go to the expert and Author of marriage, love, sex and all of our relationships and see what he says about it. When I first began writing, I wrote an inspirational book I titled “In Search of a Golden Sparrow.” I loaned the rough manuscript to a Christian friend to read to get his opinion. I had had no idea that he was having trouble in his marriage. When I received the manuscript back, I asked if he enjoyed the story. He then told me that it put his marriage back on track. I was happy for him and thought that perhaps my writing could help others. Since then, I have rewritten the book I loaned him and now it is an e-book titled “The Golden Sparrow.” It is much longer and I believe even better than before. I have had some good feedback about it so I hope it does touch people’s hearts as I intended. I have also written several other books about relationships. They are listed at the end of this one. I have been married for nearly forty-five years. I have gone through the pain and sorrow of having a wife that committed adultery. I was married to someone that took all my money, used me then left me homeless. I had a loving wife that died suddenly and left me alone. I am also married now. Between marriages, I met and spoke with hundreds of women. I talked with women that were abused by their husbands. One had suffered incest, which caused great physical and emotional scars. Others had their husbands commit adultery on them. A few of the women had been widowed. Some because their husband had died from a disease or accident and one whose husband had committed suicide.I dated several and spoke with dozens of these women for many long hours about their lives and relationships. I dated professional women, such as doctors and business owners. Some were wealthy women and I remember one that sat on the board of education in another state. Other women worked at menial jobs or were homemakers. All however gave much insight into their thoughts and feelings about their marriages. Besides myself suffering the pain and sorrow of an unfaithful spouse, I knew family, friends and neighbors that had gone through the same thing. One relative could not handle the sorrow of losing his wife to another man and committed suicide. Others never married again and some never even dated again because of the pain they suffered and the fear of being hurt again. Many men will not talk about the pain of a divorce or an unfaithful wife. They keep the pain inside. Some turn to drinking, trying to cover up or deaden the pain. Others begin using women themselves and vowing never to commit to a loving relationship again. Many of the women, which had a husband that cheated on them, were also afraid to trust. Often women that do this miss out on a having a loving relationship because of the fear of being hurt. Even if they have a serious relation or a marriage, they may not trust the man and have fear he will do to them what the previous man did. Sometimes what happened in the past causes them to be over jealous, which can also destroy a relationship or marriage. Just some of the questions I will cover in this book are: Can adultery be forgiven? What are the reasons it happens? What does God think and say about divorce? What are the consequences of divorce or infidelity? What makes a good marriage? How can a good or bad marriage affect children? In addition, I go into several stories in the Bible about what happened to other men and women that had to deal with these issues. I also use many Bible scriptures to get some insight on how we are to view such things and how we are to conduct ourselves if it happens to us.
