Hidden Brutality: Life of Serial Killer Carl Eugene Watts (Serial Killers Book 14)

by Jack Smith

Brutality, sadism, remorselessness…Just a need to kill. This is Carl Eugene Watts, the Sunday Morning Slasher
Download FREE with Kindle Unlimited

What turns a man into a killer? America has become the undoubted home of the mass-murderer, playing host to many of the most famous villains in history. From John Wayne Gacy to Jeffrey Dahmer, thousands of people have fallen victim to some of the evilest men in history. So horrible are many of these crimes, that the events themselves can become blurred. Often, we overlook some of the most hideous crimes. There are legions of forgotten serial killers, people whose sadism and brutality is relegated to a footnote. This is one of those stories.

Carl Eugene Watts, Coral to his friends, was a serial killer during the latter stages of the Twentieth Century. His crimes are forgotten by the mainstream, but he may have had a hand in the murder of over a hundred women. Stalking around Michigan and Texas during the 1970s and 1980s, his family had no idea of his true nature. His friends and associates had no clue. Behind the mask of normalcy hid one of the country’s most brutal killers.

In this book, we will examine the life and crimes of Coral Watts. We will learn about his background, about his history, and try to explore the reasons he might have strayed so far from the beaten path of humanity. We will look in detail at some of his crimes, especially those which formed the basis of his conviction, and try to extrapolate some greater meaning from these random acts of violence. Nicknamed the Sunday Morning Slasher, Coral Watts would prove to be one of the most vicious killers in American history.

Wrongful Convictions: True Murder Cases Unbelievable Miscarriages of Justice

by Jack Smith

Convicted of murders they did not commit... astonishing cases of miscarriage of justice that led to rethinking the capital punishment

Read for FREE on Kindle Unlimited

Ever since DNA evidence started exonerating death row inmates, public concern about wrongful executions has been on the rise. It has been such a source of worry that some states have abolished the death penalty entirely.

Although we want to believe that the criminal justice system designed to protect us is infallible, mistakes can be and are made. The ultimate tragedy is when an innocent person is executed for a crime that he or she didn’t commit.

Inside find three stories of wrongful executions in the UK, where justice was swift and limitless appeals were not supported. In one case the person was actually exonerated forty-six years after being hanged.

● Eliza Fenning and the Devilish Dumplings: In March 1815, the entire household of Robert Turner, a London law stationer, was struck by a mysterious illness. When a search was made for its cause, a substance believed to be arsenic was found in the dish used to mix up yeast dumplings the family had eaten for dinner. Although she had fallen ill too, Eliza Fenning, the twenty-one-year-old maid who had prepared the dumplings, was charged with attempted murder and hanged. Her execution is still regarded as one of Britain’s worst miscarriages of justice.

● The Messalina of Ilford: Edith Thompson and her younger lover, Frederick Bywaters, were executed in January 1923 for the murder of Edith’s husband. Although Mr. Bywaters confessed and insisted that Mrs. Thompson had nothing to do with the murder, she was held equally responsible for the crime because of some letters that expressed hostile intent toward her overbearing spouse. Her supporters believed that she had really been condemned for being an adulteress. There is currently a campaign in process to win her a posthumous royal pardon.

● “Let Him Have It”: On January 28, 1953, nineteen-year-old Derek Bentley was hanged at Wandsworth Prison for the murder of a Metropolitan Police constable. Bentley had not fired the fatal shot, but his sixteen-year-old accomplice was too young to receive the death penalty, so the mentally impaired Bentley went to the gallows instead. In 1998, thanks to four decades of vigorous campaigning by his family, he received a posthumous pardon. His execution was instrumental in the abolition of capital punishment in the UK.

It is too late to save these victims of wrongful execution, but the time has come to accept that, regardless of our individual feelings about the death penalty, all future debates on the subject must proceed with the knowledge that innocent people have been put to death.

Explorations in Consciousness: A New Approach to Out-of-Body Experiences

by Frederick Aardema

In Explorations in Consciousness, Frederick Aardema, a clinical researcher, provides a profound account of the out-of-body experience, covering some of the most mystifying aspects of this experience. Throughout the book, the author seamlessly weaves in his own travels into different fields of consciousness, including experiences in the personal field, where he is confronted with the constructs of his own psyche, as well as visitations to collective and archetypal fields of consciousness that appear to have an independent existence beyond the eye of the beholder. Highly original and groundbreaking, Explorations in Consciousness presents a model of reality in which nothing can ever be taken for granted. It proposes that consciousness is embedded within a wider field of possibilities that become real depending on our interaction with the world around us, whether “in” or “out” of the body. Regardless of what you believe about the out-of-body state, this book will challenge and excite you to become an explorer of consciousness. It provides a powerful method to induce the OBE, as well as new tools on how to navigate the entire spectrum of consciousness yourself.

The Horrific Crimes of Gilles de Rais Revisited: Life of a Serial Killer of the Middle Ages (Serial Killers Book 8)

by Jack Smith

Gille de Rais has been described as one of the most horrific serial killer of the Middle Ages or was he? Revisiting Gilles de Rais crimes.

La Roche-Bernard, France. September, 1438

Peronne Loessart knew that she should feel honored, both for herself and on her young son’s behalf. But she was still in a state of unease bordering on fear.

The Baron de Rais and his entourage were in her town, stopping at the hotel of Jean Colin, which was in the immediate neighborhood of Madame Loessart’s home. One of the Baron’s men, a man named Poitou, had spied her ten-year-old son and approached her about engaging the boy as his page.

Young Loessart often drew such attention. He was an uncommonly beautiful child, with golden hair and expressive blue eyes. But this was the first time that he had come to the notice of a potential patron.

Poitou, whose real name was Étienne Corrillaut, went to Madame Loessart and offered her four pounds for the boy’s services, with an added bonus of one hundred sous for a new dress. He also promised to continue the child’s education at a prestigious institution.

Although distressed at the thought of being parted from her son, Madame Loessart finally agreed. She knew that he had limited opportunities for advancement in La Roche-Bernard. Poitou also gave her his word that the boy would be well provided for.

She believed it. Gilles de Rais was the Marshal of France, a great man who had helped Jeanne d’Arc bring about the victory at Orléans. A regal escort preceded him wherever he went and trumpeters announced his presence at each destination. His ostentatious display of wealth and pageantry turned heads and inspired both awe and adoration. Now her son would have the chance to benefit from such glory.

A pony was purchased from the hotel owner for the boy to ride, and the Baron’s entourage left for his castle at Machecoul the following day. There was probably a tearful goodbye, accompanied by promises to send messages and see each other soon.

Despite the excellent opportunity she appeared to be giving her son, Madame Loessart remained anxious. Perhaps separation anxiety was taking hold. Maybe the rumors that had been circulating lately now seemed more plausible. Whatever the reason, she suddenly ran after the departing party.

One of the Baron’s servants intercepted the distraught woman and held her back, reminding her that a bargain had been struck. Gilles de Rais did not respond to her pleas. Instead, he spoke to the servant restraining her.

“He (the child) is well chosen. He is as beautiful as an angel.”

Finally Madame Loessart calmed down, and the Baron’s party resumed its journey.

Two years passed. The Baron’s servants passed through the village once during that time, although young Loessart was not with them. On demanding news of her son, the men informed her that the boy was either at Tiffauges or Pouzauges. The truth was that he was long dead.

Through the book Musashi defends his thesis: a man who conquers himself is ready to take it on on the world, should need arise.

Nine Years Among the Indians, 1870-1879: The Story of the Captivity and Life of a Texan Among the Indians

by Herman Lehmann

Here is a genuine Little Big Man story, with all the color, sweep, and tragedy of a classic American western. It is the tale of Herman Lehmann, a captive of the Apaches on the Southern Plains of Texas and New Mexico during the 1870s. Adopted by a war chief, he was trained to be a warrior and waged merciless war on Apache enemies, both Indian and Euro-American. After killing an Apache medicine man in self-defense, he fled to a lonely hermitage on the Southern Plains until he joined the Comanches. Against his will, Lehmann was returned to his family in 1879. The final chapters relate his difficult readjustment to Anglo life.Lehmann's unapologetic narrative is extraordinary for its warm embrace of Native Americans and stinging appraisal of Anglo society. Once started, the story of this remarkable man cannot be put down. Dale Giese's introduction provides a framework for interpreting the Lehmann narrative.

Equity, Growth, and Community: What the Nation Can Learn from America's Metro Areas

by Chris Benner

A free ebook version of this title is available through Luminos, University of California Press’s new open access publishing program for monographs. Visit www.luminosoa.org to learn more. In the last several years, much has been written about growing economic challenges, increasing income inequality, and political polarization in the United States. This book argues that lessons for addressing these national challenges are emerging from a new set of realities in America’s metropolitan regions: first, that inequity is, in fact, bad for economic growth; second, that bringing together the concerns of equity and growth requires concerted local action; and, third, that the fundamental building block for doing this is the creation of diverse and dynamic epistemic (or knowledge) communities, which help to overcome political polarization and help regions address the challenges of economic restructuring and social divides.

The Business of People: The significance of social science over the next decade

by Campaign for Social Science

Tackling infectious disease, understanding radicalisation, improving productivity, siting new airport capacity, getting people to save for retirement – nearly all the issues facing the UK now and in the near future demand the urgent attention of those trained to study human processes. In short, we need sharp social science now more than ever. The Business of People looks at the backdrop to the UK elections taking place in May 2015 to argue that we need to invest in science and innovation – not just for the sake of ‘UK plc’ and prospects for growth and economic recovery, but to inform debate and policymaking on migration, housing, devolution of power within the UK, and the UK’s position in Europe. The report sets out the need for new economic and social knowledge and illustrates the many ways in which social scientists are contributing to changing practice and deepening knowledge. It outlines the size and structure of UK social science, its contribution to GDP, how social science graduates are essential to the work of firms, government and the third sector. The report ends with a set of recommendations for the next few years – urgent reading for the next government – on research funding, social science capacity and the use of expert advice by government. An open access electronic version of the report will be downloadable from https://campaignforsocialscience.org.uk/ in February 2015.

The Time-Force Imperative

by Pat Caffrey

Our tendency to initiate, define and measure causation dimensionally continues to obscure underlying reality. This book provides a simplified imperative of two concurrent integrated realms, one of unity where everything occurs, and one where the results of action in unity are displayed dimensionally. A duality of unity and dimension realms necessitates a corresponding duality of time. All four of our fundamental forces have time embedded within them. We cannot tell time except through one of these forces. Therefore, time must be their parent force. This book views time as the sole force facilitating phenomena, furnishing insights into our major scientific riddles and how to resolve them. These riddles includes the resistance to unification of forces as part of a theory of everything, and the incongruity between general relativity and quantum field theory. Time-force acknowledges an underlying universal intelligence as necessary to simplify existence into concepts anyone can grasp and discuss. Science has reached the point of over-complex explanations, and needs to be freed to engage in a holistic approach to describe existence.

by Agni Yoga Society

Fiery World I is the ninth book from the Agni Yoga Series which is composed of fourteen books. In them is found a synthesis of ancient Eastern beliefs and modern Western thought and a bridge between the spiritual and the scientific. Unlike previous yogas, Agni Yoga is a path not of physical disciplines, meditation, or asceticism—but of practice in daily life. It is the yoga of fiery energy, of consciousness, of responsible, directed thought. It teaches that the evolution of the planetary consciousness is a pressing necessity and that, through individual striving, it is an attainable aspiration for mankind. It affirms the existence of the Hierarchy of Light and the center of the Heart as the link with the Hierarchy and with the far-off worlds. Though not systematized in an ordinary sense, Agni Yoga is a Teaching that helps the discerning student to discover moral and spiritual guide-posts by which to learn to govern his or her life and thus contribute to the Common Good. For this reason Agni Yoga has been called a “living ethics.”Agni Yoga Society, Inc., New York

A Conspicuous Silence: American Foreign Policy, Women, and Saudi Arabia: A Selection from The Hillary Doctrine: Sex and American Foreign Policy

by Valerie M. Hudson

Hillary Rodham Clinton was the first to clearly state that: "the subjugation of women is a direct threat to the security of the United States." This declaration has come to be known as the Hillary Doctrine, and it was formally incorporated into the first Quadrennial Diplomatic and Development Review of U.S. foreign policy in 2010. If the Hillary Doctrine is justified, then how is it that Secretary of State Clinton never addressed issues of extreme gender inequality in Saudi Arabia? And how has Saudi Arabia sought to export that inequality to other states, such as Yemen? This chapter explores the complexities of the Hillary Doctrine in practice, the realities of pursuing gender equality on the national stage, the strategies Clinton and those working under her innovated to introduce gender issues diplomatically into a resistant country, and other key developments from this encounter and its reverberations across international channels.

The Pink Doughnut Phenomenon: Corporate America's Attack On Traditional Masculinity

by JD McGuigan

The American Dream of working 40 years at one company until retirement was never an appealing proposition, but it was once a reliable, respectable way to secure a good life and future, for a once healthy family unit. In the past it was a borderline worthy sacrifice for most men.No longer is it reliable or lucrative enough to make sense as a life model, as it's inherent flaws now loom larger than ever. The corporate world of 9-5 is designed to break down a man's masculine essence, in a western civilization already overrun by politically correct hysteria and third wave feminism, which has bought corporate America to form an unholy power structure of ruthless misandry. Meanwhile, the labor market continues to change thanks to unchecked corporate greed, mass-scale outsourcing, and greater competition coming out of our universities. There are now more candidates than ever vying for a decreasing number of entry-level jobs. Once fair, the game is now rigged. And against the advice of our out of touch Baby Boomer parents, it is imperative that we as men adapt to this. For if we don't, having “job security” will be the least of our concerns.
