Healing from Emotional Abuse: Learn How to Recognize Signs of Emotional Abuse and How to Deal With an Emotionally Abusive Husband

by Haley Johanson

If you've ever felt neglected, intimidated, or threatened by your spouse or partner, then this book is for you!
Read on your PC, Mac, smart phone, tablet, or Kindle device.

When you think of an abusive marriage, images of physical abuse immediately come to mind. However, it's important to remember that abuse extends far beyond the physical realm and in fact it's emotional abuse that can actually leave the longest-lasting scars. Emotional abuse includes causing fear to another person through threats, intimidation, destruction of property, and forced isolation. It is often referred to as "psychological abuse" because of the impact it has on your psyche. Bear in mind that although psychological abuse does not necessarily result in physical abuse, physical abuse is nearly always preceded by psychological abuse. So although it's not guaranteed that the abuse will progress to being physical, it's certainly a possibility that you should take seriously.

Studies show that both men and women physically and emotionally abuse each other at equal rates, but that the abuse by women on men goes largely unreported. In fact, the wife is actually more likely to use psychological aggression more often than her husband. This book does not attempt to undermine or ignore the plight faced by men in an abusive relationship. However with that said, this book was written primarily with women in mind. Even so, the strategies discussed throughout can successfully be adopted by both men and women in an abusive marriage.

If you're ready to put an end to the abusive cycle you're facing, then let's get started.

This book is designed to be a rant on the subject and will offend and annoy the religious. Questions such as: Can a true believer in God have credibility as a counsellor? How does a belief in God influence the process of counselling? Does the acceptance of some religious teachings disqualify an individual from being a counsellor? Can a counsellor still value a client if they believe they are worthy of death in Armageddon? The book is generally critical of any belief that is dogmatic in its nature and not open to change. The value of the science of Psychology is discuses as the creator of counselling. Science is also presented as a way of thinking for the effective counsellor. Objectivity and the value of remaining in the clients frame of reference is discussed and how a belief in the teachings of a holy book can sabotage this skill. The author also discusses his own search for meaning in life and describes how he became a counsellor and an atheist after flirting with spirituality and dogmatic religion. A book that is designed to challenge the student counsellor to seriously question the value of their beliefs.

Shifting from Co-Dependent to Independent: How to Let Go of Your Co-Dependent and Controlling Personality, and Start Living as An Individual

by Amira Kinsley

If you want to free yourself or a loved one from dysfunctional codependent behavior, then this book is for you!
Read on your PC, Mac, smart phone, tablet, or Kindle device.

Codependency is a very ugly - and unhealthy - personality trait. A codependent person instinctively seeks out relationships with people who are unable to meet their emotional needs. Eventually, what is supposed to be a loving and supportive partnership is overrun by obsession, control, and resentment which ends with the codependent emotionally unwell and the relationship destroyed. Even more devastating, however, is the effect codependency has on a person’s relationship with themselves. A codependent defines themselves in terms of their relationships with others, measuring their worth based solely on what they can do for other people, becoming deeply entrenched in other people’s problems and needs, leaving little energy to focus on their own needs.

Are you in a codependent relationship? Or do you know someone who is? If left unaddressed, the condition can lead to self-destructive or self-defeating behaviors such as addictions, psychosomatic illnesses, or worse. Various studies also show that people with codependency are likely to attract further abuse from aggressive individuals. Simply put, it's a continuous downward spiral until you put a stop to it. The good news is, codependency is learned behavior. This means, as this book will show you, it can be unlearned too! Since you're reading this now, you've actually already taken the first step of recognizing the problem. Now join me for this short read to learn exactly how to identify unhealthy patterns in your behavior, and how to take charge and change them. You'll become fully empowered to take the next steps in changing the way you view yourself and the people around you. And before you know it, you'll find yourself easily developing healthy and loving relationships, and naturally rejecting those that aren't good for you.

Angry Mind: Finding Peace In Your Life

by Charles Lamont

Angry MindFinding Peace in Your Life Anger is one of the most common feelings experienced by human beings. As a matter of fact, feelings of annoyance, irritation and anger are emotions that are unavoidable because it is linked to the human nature. However, it is important to understand that anger comes with its own set of rigid beliefs and blinders. It not only narrows your thinking but also sets you in a cycle of blame game. By covering its tracks, anger makes you absolutely certain that your view in a particular situation is 100 percent accurate. What makes matters worse is that any emotion you feel at the time when you are angry enhances the odds that next time you will feel the same emotion. Anger has insidious ways of controlling your mind, dominates your days and ultimately your life.Anger, like any other negative emotion is part of our daily experiences and you do not necessarily have to become a victim of it. Psychological science makes it absolutely clear that the power to cultivate or prolong angry experiences is squarely in your hands. Anger does not have to become your lifestyle. Science has documented what anger can do when you allow it to become your baseline or first impulse. Among the things you stand to suffer include strained relationships, compromised health and unhappiness. If anger has in one way or another come to rule and ruin your life, you have the opportunity to change all that and write a different script. This book can help you achieve that. It draws on ancient wisdom and 21st century breakthroughs to calm your angry mind. by Richard D Sevorn

Many of the world-recognized areas of psychology and psychotherapy are still little known. Behavioral and cognitive therapy too. On the basis of these approaches, the American psychotherapist A. Ellis created a new direction called the RERT (rational-emotional-behavioral therapy). Personality in the REBT is considered on three levels: emotional, mental and behavioral. The REBT does not have a touch of mysticism and irrationality. So this ebook can be helpful not only to psychologists and psychology students but for everyone else too.
