Robin Hood: The Legacy of a Folk Hero

by Robert White

If you thought you knew about Robin Hood… then think again!Written by Robert White, chairman of the World Wide Robin Hood Society. Many tales have been told about Robin Hood. The traditional stories of good versus evil and his quest to regain his rightful inheritance are universally appealing. The legend has intrigued generation after generation and everyone has their own personal vision of Robin Hood - a swashbuckling hero; a romantic outlaw; a bandit thief; a fighter of injustice or a benevolent champion of the people. Numerous books have been written by historians trying to untangle the myth, establish his actual existence and speculate on just who he might have actually been. Consequently, the subject of the globally renowned hero of English folklore has become extensively complex but the observations included in this publication should provide a brief overview of some of the key facts, issues and perceptions surrounding Robin Hood.Robin Hood: The Legacy of a Folk Hero gives a fascinating insight into the numerous aspects of one of the world’s most enduring and iconic legends. Robert White discusses interesting facts and titbits surrounding the outlaw, and then reflects on how the Sherwood Forest hero has become a global phenomenon who, over 800 years, evolved into 'the people’s champion'. Embark on an journey from the legend’s mythical roots to how, across the ages, the tales of Robin and his merry men has developed in many diverse ways that still impact us to this day.Whatever your opinions and beliefs, this title will reveal just why Robin Hood has become so much more than simply a mythical outlaw of English folklore.

Mythology: Norse Mythology, Greek Gods, Greek Mythology, Egyptian Gods, Ancient Egypt

by Patrick Auerbach

Mythology can refer to the collected myths of a group of people—their collection of stories they tell to explain nature, history, and customs—or to the study of such myths. As a collection of explanatory stories, mythology is a vital feature of every culture. Many sources for myths have been proposed, ranging from personification of nature or personification of natural phenomena, to truthful or hyperbolic accounts of historical events to explanations of existing rituals. This book covers:Norse MythologyIn this book you will find information, about Norse Mythology. Norse mythology, or Scandinavian mythology, is the body of mythology of the North Germanic people stemming from Norse paganism and continuing after the Christianization of Scandinavia and into the Scandinavian folklore of the modern period. Most of the knowledge used to create this book, is from the Icelandic historian and poet, Snorri Sturluson, who has written The Prose Edda around the year 1200.The Norse gods and goddesses were loved by the Vikings. The Vikings came mainly from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Faroe Island, and Greenland.Greek GodsThe ancient Greeks believed there were a great number of gods and goddesses. These gods had control over many different aspects of life on earth. In many ways they were very human. They could be kind or mean, angry or pleasant, cruel or loving. They fell in love with each other, argued with each other and even stole from each other. The ancient Greeks built great temples and sanctuaries to their gods. They held festivals in their honour, with processions, sports, sacrifices and competitions. Stories of the gods' exploits were told to children by their mothers and to large audiences by professional bards and storytellers. People today still enjoy hearing stories about the Greek gods. This book tells the tales of gods and goddesses such as Zeus, Aphrodite, Apollo, and Athena and heroes and monsters such as Helen of Troy, Perseus, and Medusa will fascinate and engage your imagination.Greek MythologyGreek Mythology is the body of myths and teachings that belong to the ancient Greeks, concerning their gods and heroes, the nature of the world, and the origins and significance of their own cult and ritual practices. It was a part of the religion in ancient Greece. The Greeks were polytheistic in their religious beliefs. Polytheistic means they believed in and worshiped many different gods. Modern scholars refer to and study the myths in an attempt to shed light on the religious and political institutions of Ancient Greece and its civilization, and to gain understanding of the nature of myth-making itself.Egyptian GodsWorshiped for over three-fifths of recorded history, ancient Egypt's Gods and Goddesses are among the most fascinating of human civilization.. The lives of pharaohs and commoners alike were dominated by the need to honor, worship, and pacify the huge pantheon of deities. From lavish tomb paintings and imposing temple reliefs to humble household shrines, countless tributes throughout Egypt reflect the richness and complexity of their mythology. Ancient EgyptAncient Egypt's impact on later cultures was immense. You could say that Egypt provided the building blocks for Greek and Roman culture, and, through them, influenced all of the Western tradition. Today, Egyptian imagery, concepts, and perspectives are found everywhere; you will find them in architectural forms, on money, and in our day to day lives. Many cosmetic surgeons, for example, use the silhouette of Queen Nefertiti (whose name means “the beautiful one has come”) in their advertisements.Scroll to the top of the page and click Add To Cart to read more about this extraordinary chapters of history.

Enigmatic Aeneid

by L. A. Braun

The NEWEST book on rebus! Learn all of the details of Virgil's epic poem from the first century B.C.--the 'Aeneid'! It had been a very exciting epic tale about the Trojan War. Aeneas had been chosen by the Olympian god Zeus to leave Troy and voyage to Rome--to establish the predicted new world empire. Had Aeneas’s descendants then moved on to Britain and become the bloodline for later Kings of England? ‘The History of the Kings of Britain’ (‘Historia Regum Britanniae’) had claimed that Aeneas had even been a great forefather of the legendary King Arthur. We take a look at all of the artwork surrounding these colorful legends in search of the number '26' and rebus (pictures representing words). We also look at the legend of the Knights Templar. The 'Aeneid' had been written over two thousand years ago about a war that had occurred over 3,200 years ago. This book is a stunning exploration of Leonardo Da Vinci's secret number '26' and rebus in relation to the 'Aeneid.' Most astoundingly, this booklet illustrates again how the hidden number ‘26’ and rebus is deeply embedded in our most famous masterpieces! Read it today!

Gods, Goddesses, Heroes & Monsters: Discover the Extraordinary Legends, Folklore & Myths of Ancient Greece (Greek Mythology, Greek Gods, Ancient Greece, Mythology)

by Franklin Pascal

Discover the Extraordinary Legends & Myths of Ancient Greece
The Greeåks were one of the first civilizations to conceive gods and goddesses that were similar to human beings: attractive men and women, old folks with dignity and humor, and young innocent children. Naturally, the gods interacted and communicated with humans on a regular basis. The gods were not typically withdrawn and reserved figures; they actively participated in the affairs of mortals and exercised their greater power to those they favored. In addition, they were neither omnipotent nor omniscient; they possessed individual and humanlike qualities that portrayed them as fallible, imperfect deities rather than absolute and supreme beings.

Gods, Goddesses, Heroes & Monsters is a synopsis of the major tenets of Greek mythology, including the profiles of particular gods, goddesses, heroes, and monsters. Though Greek mythology is vast and complicated in scope, these main points will serve to familiarize the reader and inspire him or her to further study. It is important to understand how the depiction of mythology can reveal certain ideas about the ancient Greeks.

Woodrow Wilson Warmonger: A Brief Analysis of How America was Deceived Into World War 1

by M King

Though not nearly as glorified as the Second World War which followed two decades later; America’s entry into World War I is generally regarded as a noble cause. We needed to fight in order to “make the world safe for democracy”, or so the goof-ball narrative goes. Mainly for that reason, Woodrow Wilson is ranked as one of the “Top Ten” Presidents by the court historians of American Academia.
But is Woodrow Wilson truly worthy of such respect? Was America’s entry into World War I, at a price of 120,000 dead “doughboys”, really a just and necessary cause to be celebrated?
Woodrow Wilson Warmonger will address these questions in the form of a line-by-line, fully illustrated rebuttal to Wilson’s pre-fight speech delivered to Congress, and published, in full, in the February 11, 1918 issue of the New York Times. This pamphlet is by no means a comprehensive analysis, but the reader will nonetheless find it very informative and highly thought-provoking.
It is hoped that this work will whet the appetite of your inquiring mind and prompt you to explore The Bad War: The Story Never Taught About World War 2; a best-selling masterpiece which provides a thoroughly documented and illustrated summary of both World Wars; events which can more accurately be described as World War, Part 1 and World War, Part 2.

Flight From Syria: Refugee Stories

by Hugh Eakin

Flight from Syria: Refugee Stories features the writing and photography of nine Pulitzer Center grantees– journalists who reported on Syrian refugees between 2012 and 2015. Their travels took them from Syria to Sweden, and from crowded camps to cramped apartments in city suburbs. Each of the journalists– Hugh Eakin, Lauren Gelfond Feldinger, Stephen Franklin, Joanna Kakissis, Alia Malek, Holly Pickett, Alisa Roth, Alice Su, and Selin Thomas– lends a unique perspective. Originally published in Al Jazeera, BBC News, Guernica, In These Times, Marketplace, NPR, The Atlantic and The New York Review of Books, these stories tell of an abandoned homeland, an indifferent world, and an uncertain future. They trace the history of one of the biggest displacements of modern times– providing a testament to the suffering and courage of those who fled.

I Slept in Hitler's Bed: A Memoir by Jay Balter

by Jay Balter

Jay Balter did not have an easy life growing up in mid-20th century Brooklyn. His father, known to his mother only as “that son of a bitch” was many things—a music publisher who gambled away the entire family fortune he made on Broadway, a philander, a gangster, a deadbeat dad—but mostly, he was absent. Jay comes of age in the Orthodox Jewish community of Crown Heights with his mentally ill twin sister, his angry older brother, and his beloved mother, an early feminist who will do anything to support her family. In 1958, at 18 years old, he enters the US Army. During his basic training in Georgia, Jay’s anger over both American racism and the European Holocaust comes to the surface, and he vows, “I was prepared to teach those rebels a lesson. I was not prepared to roll over and play dead like the Jews of Europe.” But after his medical training, he suddenly receives his deployment orders: to Nuremburg, Germany of all places. Not only that, but Jay finds himself living in the SS Kaserne, the former military barracks of Hitler’s elite Storm Troopers, sleeping in the very bed where Hitler was rumored to have slept. While there, he begins having dreams of revenging the Jews and assassinating all Nazis not convicted in the Nuremberg War Trials, and experiences an intense split between the healer and the hater within. Will Jay start WW 3, or will he keep the peace in Germany? With equal parts humor and horror, this riveting memoir by a master storyteller explores the question, how can a young man alchemically transform war into peace, hatred into healing, and anger into acceptance, even love?
