A Syrian Boy: Based On a True Story, A Young Refugee and His Sister Travel from Syria to Germany escaping ISIS

by Zabi Saffi

Gods, Kings and the Governments have clashed. One's happiness is another's blood. The lower class citizens are turned into slaves without them acknowledging it. The space between the poor and the rich is dramatically long, so long, that the gods cannot level the two groups. Religion, power and money is destroying the Earth as you read.

Damaged tanks, cars, fighter jets and buildings are all that can be seen. Adnan and his sister Yana never let go of each other's hand knowing that they could be killed any second. Adnan looked to the left and saw fallen trees that were hit by some kind of bullet or bomb. A silent state with not a single bird flying. Dead, dry and abandoned.

This is the story of Adnan, a 13-year-old Syrian boy, that faces hell in his own country and is forced to escape the once beautiful village to him. His journey begins in Syria and ends in Germany. Adnan and his sister Yana go through so much pain during their journey that it breaks my heart writing their story!

Feel free to cry at the beginning, middle and at the end!

John F. Kennedy: A Life From Beginning to End (Biographies of US Presidents Book 35)

by Hourly History

John F. Kennedy* * *Download for FREE on Kindle Unlimited + Free BONUS Inside!* * *Read On Your Computer, MAC, Smartphone, Kindle Reader, iPad, or Tablet.John F. Kennedy is the president that everyone knows. He was a rich man’s son, an athlete, a war hero, a ladies’ man, an author, a president, his face rendered forever young because the last time Americans saw him, he was riding in a convertible in Dallas, his glamorous wife at his side. Then the bullets struck, and the assassinated president became a legend, the truth of his life obscured by his tragic and untimely death. But JFK had more depth to his character than the magazine covers indicated. Inside you will read about...✓ No Irish Need Apply✓ War and the Kennedys✓ Kennedy in Congress✓ Kennedy for President✓ Kennedy Women✓ The PresidencyAnd much more! The rich man’s son was the grandson of Irishmen who knew what it was to be denied jobs because Irish weren’t welcome in Boston. The athlete suffered from poor health all his life, from a bad back to Addison’s disease. The war hero whose PT-109 boat became part of his campaign legend was the son who survived; elder brother Joe, flying on a secret mission, was killed for his heroism. The ladies’ man loved his wife, but fidelity was not a concept revered by the Kennedy men. The Pulitzer Prize that he was awarded for Profiles in Courage should have gone to the person who actually wrote it. In 1963, death in Dallas ended his first term as president, bringing an end to the optimism that he inaugurated when he narrowly defeated Vice President Richard Nixon in the 1960 election. But the Kennedy legend, like Camelot, lives forever.

Prescription Drugs Also Kill: How Doctors Nearly Killed Me

by D. L. Duran

“Prescription Drugs Also Kill” is the true story of one woman’s struggle to recover from a 20 year addiction to prescription drugs. Author, D.L. Duran’s addiction began after the birth of her second child in 1970, when unrelenting postpartum insomnia and anxiety prompted her to phone her OB/GYN physician and ask his advice on the matter. Over the telephone, he diagnosed her as depressed, referred her to a psychiatrist, and prescribed valium. Both the OB/GYN doctor and the psychiatrist readily prescribed addictive drugs, without warning Duran of their negative side effects. Her book documents the irresponsibility of her medical care, how indiscriminately doctors prescribed addictive drugs, even though they knew she was the mother of two young children, one a newborn. When her family doctor later prescribed Dalmane, a benzodiazepine hypnotic, it seemed the answer to her insomnia. But eventually, it took control of her life. Near death, she sought help in a drug treatment program. Duran includes graphic descriptions of the painful and bizarre symptoms she experienced withdrawing from Dalmane, and trying to rebuild her life.."Prescription Drugs Also Kill" exposes the roles the medical profession, the psychiatric profession, and the pharmaceutical industry play in fueling the addictive prescription drug epidemic. Duran writes, “For most of us prescription drug addicts, there was a point in our lives when a physical or mental malady without a simple remedy initiated a physician’s prescription of an addictive drug. Often the doctor has not even taken the time to warn us of the its dangers.” Prescription drug addiction is now destroying the lives of millions of Americans.

Serial Killer: Henry McKenny: Big Harry

by W Lacky

First page preview:

George Brett was a hard man. A well-known East End haulage contractor, he was fond of a fight. On Saturday 4 January 1975, he walked into a church hall in Goodmayes in Essex, accompanied by his 10-year old son Terry Neither was to come out alive.

The old church hall had long been converted for light industrial use. One half was a soft toy business, while an engineering company specialising in underwater equipment occupied the other.

Brett had been lured to the side by a man he knew as Mr Jennings. There was the possibility of some business for his haulage firm, and his son had come along for the ride. The floor of the hall was completely covered in children’s teddy bears, and racks around the wall contained diving equipment. The only other occupant of the building was a very big man, bent over a work bench.

‘Jennings’ sat Brett down on the only chair and gave the boy a teddy bear to hold. Before any more could be said, the man at the bench raised a silenced Sten sub-machine gun and shot Brett through the head. Brett fell, and the big man came closer to make certain of his kill with a second shot to the head.

BUS STOP READS Are Short Quick Reads.

Poisoning has long been a way of ending life. The ancients initially used plant substances to poison their hunting weapons to kill animals. But, somewhere along the way, somebody figured that what could kill a beast would also kill a man.
During the 17th Century, poisoning had surpassed murder to become a form of art.
The poisoning epidemic tore through Europe, as well as paranoia about being poisoned, especially amongst the upper classes. One infamous case that sent shockwaves through the European aristocracy was that of the serial killer Marquise Marie Brinvilliers.

The Days of Guns, & Raz's

by Raz Cue

In the year of our Lord, nineteen hundred and eighty-five, a little ol’ band called Guns N’ Roses formed in Raz Cue’s living room. And thus, Cue became the band’s first manager... to be fired. With absolutely no hard feelings, Mr. Cue remained a trusted member of G N’ R’s inner circle for the remainder of the decade, allowing him to witness the iconic band tour the world’s stages as they rose to the pinnacle of rock ‘n’ roll. When the Guns N’ Roses party quit being fun for him, Cue stepped away from the swelling ranks of backstage hangers-on so that he might fully enjoy the band’s incendiary performances from a fan-in-the-audience perspective. With good times and fun stories constantly swirling about in his mind’s eye, a few years back, Mr. Cue resolved to set the standard for which all future memoirs should be judged. Four hundred and twenty drafts later, the product of that quest emerged: The Days of Guns, and Raz’s. Far more than a Hollywood rock ‘n’ roll memoir, the book follows Cue’s drug-addled journey from feral child to moral-ish adult. His spinal injury during high school and lifetime of riding a wheelchair, while higher than the International Space Station, are thrown in to keep it all rolling along.Mr. Cue manages to wrap up the whole shebang neatly within the changing landscapes of 1970s through 90s America, all the while showcasing his lifelong love of music and cheap thrills. With an undying admiration for hungry up-and-coming artists, Cue remained involved in the Los Angeles music scene through the mid-90s implosion of the Sunset Strip, so he wedges in a bit of name-dropping from that period, too. If you’ve longed for a caustic, satirical, blue-collar rock bio that delivers a stinging bitch slap to our current insanity-level political correctness, this one’s for you!
