Playing the Piano for the Rest of Us...: How to Play Chord Music on the Piano

by Victor Aramanda

"Playing the Piano for the rest of us" is a course created for people who want to play the piano without having to commit to years of study and practice before being able to play songs they really want to.

Finally a piano course for people who want to play with other musicians without having to learn to read sheet music, to enjoy themselves or be included in groups, like church groups or bands, or just friends and family.

Most of the piano instruction I have seen falls into two categories… it’s too hard, so you quit, or, it doesn’t teach enough foundational skills and knowledge so the only thing learned is how to play songs that the course taught.

I like the saying, “Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach him to fish, feed him for a lifetime”. This course hopes to be part of the latter, for people who want to play and enjoy the piano or keyboard.

Many existing courses teach too much at once like classical piano finger-skills, music theory and how to read sheet music. Students often get lost and discouraged somewhere between reading sheet music and having too hard of a time getting their hands to work together, others teach a set of playing skills that allow the student to play a limited amount of songs or music, but no freedom to find and play what the student really wanted to in the first place.

Classical training is fantastic, but can often times be overkill for people who want to accompany others or want to play and / or sing using chord music. Ultimately the student gets rolled over from too much and too hard of a learning curve, like a wave that came crashing down on their hopes and dreams.

Some training methods don’t provide enough foundation to enable the student to continue growing themselves, at their own pace, as they desire after they’ve completed the course. This course hopes to open the door for people to play the piano and then release them to grow-on!

Learning to read chord music is the difference between a person having to “learn, read and interpret an extremely complicated map with a key of over 20 symbols”, compared to having to read a simple map of “start point, landmark, end point”.

Drawing Robots: Learning to draw amazing unusual subjects

by Amy Hughes

Drawing Robots
Learning to draw amazing unusual subjects

This eBook is about how to draw various robots, which you can find underneath the chapters. There are various types of robots drawn and explained with steps about how you can draw them at home. This eBook also focuses not only on the robot drawing but sketching too. Also some of the things a robot are more likely to have like a hammer robot a normal robot have been shown. Sketching gives anything a better look, so some sketching always help in all drawings.
Each drawing must have a structure and a robot is the same. On the other hand, dissimilar to the human body you can draw a robot based off a human structure or simply something altogether cutting edge with its own structure and shape, however in this instructional exercise we have the humanoid structure to work from, thus we begin off with an oval shape for the head as regular and after that every one of the joints, for example, the shoulders, the elbows, the wrists, the pelvis, the knees and the lower legs are all generally outlined in as round circles and after that the biceps, the lower arms, the thighs and the calves are all portrayed in a wiener molded.

Drawing for beginners: 7 steps to be a professional artist. Learn how to draw in one day!

by Amy Hughes

Drawing for beginners
7 steps to be a professional artist. Learn how to draw in one day!

Drawing has never been made easier, on this comprehensive guide, drawing takes a different twist as you get to learn the most commonly used techniques and how simple and fun drawing can be. Who says drawing has to be tough and complex? Packed with photos and short exercises to direct you, this book is definitely what you need, it can never be easier.
Drawing begun before time, way back centuries ago; from the stone-age to the historical epic times, drawing has been in existence and continues to advance and baffle as time goes by, we have seen some paintings such as the Mona Lisa that is almost a mirage of a high quality camera copy, or coded drawings that have been used to unravel some ancient secrets, drawing has been the best form of communication and also was the first. By following the six steps in the book, you will be advancing to a new communication platform.
Did you also know that drawing is beneficial for your health? It has been proved to help in mind relaxation and also awake the nervous system which later leads to a higher and faster rate of quick thinking, by practicing how to draw you feel relieved and calm.
Drawing can be a hobby; it can be something you do for personal development, it is an activity that you can do during your free time, if done well, you might earn a couple of bucks out of it. By practicing drawing you also develop some life skills that can help you out, you can become a painter, a graphic design artist or venture into many promising careers in art.
Did you know that painters are one of the best problem solvers? They have a unique ability to view all situations in different angles that others cannot, they are open minded people who see what others can’t see. They make the best out of worse things and situations.
The best thing about drawing is there is no age limit, as long as a person has the ability to move any part of his or her body parts, they can draw! I have seen the handicapped draw with their legs, with their mouth and also the normal use their bodies to draw, art is everywhere.
You also don’t need some special equipment to draw, as said earlier it is not complex or hard to do, all it requires is an imagination, there are so many forms of materials you can use for drawing from sand, to charcoal or pens and pencils. There is no limitation.
By engaging in drawing, you engage yourself in creativity and learning, your mind then becomes super active and open to more information, you then grow smart as you will be curious to learn more and do better.
Drawing is the only form of art that uses telepathy, when you draw, you are putting down what’s on your mind for another person to view and get what you’re thinking about without talking or sign language, for example when you see a nice portrait of a sunny day and children playing on the field, you can tell that the artist was expressing joy without even talking, or if you see A dark portrait of an abandoned house at night, you can tell the artist either had something scaring him or was gloomy.
Drawing doesn’t necessarily have to be as its perceived by many people, it’s not hard and stressful, by reading this book, you will be amazed at what you have been missing out, enjoy!

Here is a preview of what you'll learn:
Introduction to drawing Getting ready, assembling of the tools and items Choosing what to draw according to skill level and drawing the outline Hatching and all its different forms Circling drawing techniques Shading and its different forms Practice images Conclusion

Garage Band Theory – GBTool 08 Chord Progressions: excerpt from Garage Band Theory: Tools the Pros Use to Play by Ear (Garage Band Theory - Tools the Pro's Use to Play by Ear Book 9)

by Duke Sharp

Everything in this book came from Garage Band Theory and there's loads more useful stuff there.

When I first started trying to explain how people can play songs by ear, this is where I began.

I thought that if a player understands that the vast majority of the music we hear is based around about five patterns, which are called chord progressions, and then they learn those patterns they'd be off and running.

Not a bad idea, but what happened is that the student would not really know exactly what a chord is, which has to be explained in the context of a scale... and they wouldn't know what a scale is ... and so on. Turns out this is one of those times that a coherent explanation can't really start in the middle.

But the basic premise is absolutely true. There are only a few chord progressions that can be thought of as the foundation for nearly all the music you'll ever hear, and they're rather simple. And they're all here.

When you learn to recognize chord progressions ... musical patterns ... it becomes quite easy to anticipate the 'next' chord.

When you're doing that, you're playing 'by ear.'

There are plenty of examples and chord diagrams that will let you get right into playing all these tunes and a quiz at the end so you can measure your progress. (use a separate sheet of paper for your answers)

This is non Academic, practical, useful theory for living-room pickers and working musicians who want to be able to think coherently about music in order to ask questions and understand answers about the music they want to play.

The stuff in GBT is about understanding The Beatles and The Rolling Stones,  Cole Porter and Duke Ellington, The Grateful Dead and Vampire Weekend.

It's NOT about analyzing Bach Fugues... but you'll be able to if you want to.

It was written for the 99% of musicians who are NOT music majors by a incorrigible honky-tonk guitar player who plays by ear ... but understands the relevant vocabulary and what's sensible and useful for MOST players.

"Garage Band Theory is a must for any musician." Rodney Crowell

"Don't be put off by this giant book - Duke's got the secrets of the universe in here. Quite simply, this is the most comprehensive book on music theory I've ever seen."
Bill Payne (Little Feat)

"Something for every musician at any level. Especially helpful is the musical notation and tablature for a variety of instruments. This book inspires me to learn and practice more."
Sam Bush

"Garage Band Theory is a veritable encyclopedia of useful tools and tips. This book lifts the lid off the "black box" of music theory and let's the light shine in - and in a fun, practical way.
This is a book which should be left handily lying around the living room, bedside, studio, classroom, (restroom?) - ready to be dipped into at any time for reference purposes or just to improve or refresh one's fluency in the language of music.
A great resource for musicians young and old no matter what your training. For the price of a one-hour lesson, GBT offers a lifetime of learning."
Alasdair Fraser

"Garage Band Theory let me know how little I know... but in a good way.  It's a great book!" Sterling C Ball CEO, Ernie Ball Inc.

"This book is written in the people's key." Kostas

"Garage Band Theory offers you everything you need to know to understand, play and make your own music. Because he is both an accomplished musician and teacher, Sharp's Garage Band Theory is an excellent guide for beginners and more advanced players alike." Sam Barry, author, musician

No matter which instrument you want to play, the advice, inspiration and down-to-earth tips in this book will help you get to your goal.

Duke Sharp draws on a lifetime of experience playing, writing, recording and teaching music.

Garage Band Theory demystifies music theory and, in the process, shows how to apply basic music theory to the art of playing by ear and composition.

The Days of Guns, & Raz's

by Raz Cue

In the year of our Lord, nineteen hundred and eighty-five, a little ol’ band called Guns N’ Roses formed in Raz Cue’s living room. And thus, Cue became the band’s first manager... to be fired. With absolutely no hard feelings, Mr. Cue remained a trusted member of G N’ R’s inner circle for the remainder of the decade, allowing him to witness the iconic band tour the world’s stages as they rose to the pinnacle of rock ‘n’ roll. When the Guns N’ Roses party quit being fun for him, Cue stepped away from the swelling ranks of backstage hangers-on so that he might fully enjoy the band’s incendiary performances from a fan-in-the-audience perspective. With good times and fun stories constantly swirling about in his mind’s eye, a few years back, Mr. Cue resolved to set the standard for which all future memoirs should be judged. Four hundred and twenty drafts later, the product of that quest emerged: The Days of Guns, and Raz’s. Far more than a Hollywood rock ‘n’ roll memoir, the book follows Cue’s drug-addled journey from feral child to moral-ish adult. His spinal injury during high school and lifetime of riding a wheelchair, while higher than the International Space Station, are thrown in to keep it all rolling along.Mr. Cue manages to wrap up the whole shebang neatly within the changing landscapes of 1970s through 90s America, all the while showcasing his lifelong love of music and cheap thrills. With an undying admiration for hungry up-and-coming artists, Cue remained involved in the Los Angeles music scene through the mid-90s implosion of the Sunset Strip, so he wedges in a bit of name-dropping from that period, too. If you’ve longed for a caustic, satirical, blue-collar rock bio that delivers a stinging bitch slap to our current insanity-level political correctness, this one’s for you!
