Shallow Waters (Detective Hannah Robbins Crime Series Book 1)

by Rebecca Bradley

What readers are saying about Shallow Waters

'A gritty police procedural, with no-holds-barred and a shocking insight to the reality of some. Dark and disturbing, yet exceptionally compelling.' - Mel Sherratt, author of Taunting The Dead.

'Tense, compelling and utterly absorbing. DI Hannah Robbins is a force to be reckoned with.' - Jane Isaac, author of The Truth Will Out.

'I found it quite a creepy read, with the descriptions of a girl shut in the cage playing on my mind long after I closed the book, something that doesn't happen too often, and that I can only put down to the writing which snuck underneath the hard skin of this reader.'
'Shallow Waters is a complete novel but one that leaves you wanting to find out more, especially about Hannah which means that I will definitely be watching out for the next in the series.' - C Bannister, Amazon top 300 reviewer.

Listed in The Bookseller's Independent Author Preview: March 2015

The Other Sister (Sister Series, #1)

by Leanne Davis

General Travis Bains has two daughters, one who is good, and one who is bad. Everyone knows Lindsey is the good one, and Jessie is the bad one.

Jessie Bains is the other sister, the bad sister, which she has proven more often than not, until the day she gets kidnapped and brutally raped. Will Hendricks, one of her father's soldiers, rescues her and brings her home, but fears she may be nearly destroyed by what is done to her. The most important thing, however, is that no one can know, per the general's orders.

Jessie's life was always far from normal as the daughter of one of the most revered generals in the world. No one sees what the general does to Jessie, except Will. When Will discovers the danger Jessie is living in at her father's hand, he once again rescues her. Will has survived the horrors of war, but is now engaged in a battle that has become far more personal and far more deadly. Will alone realizes what the general has done and will do to destroy his "other" daughter.

**Due to mature subject matter and language this is recommended for readers aged 17+**

I hate you for this, soldier.
He looked into her eyes and saw the opposite. I know.
He surprised her, as well as Lindsey, when he lifted her off her feet, and held her to him. In his arms. Next to his face. Her arms encircled him, and he held her. He leaned down and his lips touched hers in a soft, gentle, closed-mouth kiss that spoke of leaving and longing and all the other things he couldnt tell Jessie.
I told you a long time ago, someday, things would be different for you. This is the only way I know how to fulfill that promise for you.
With that, he released her and watched her eyes filling with tears as she nearly collapsed on the couch. Lindsey came over to her and they awkwardly figured out how to hug each other. Will leaned down and gathered his bag. As he turned to leave, he saw the two sisters huddled together, tears falling from their eyes.
Goodbye, Jessie, he said as he turned and left her.

The Temptation of Dragons (Penny White Book 1)

by Chrys Cymri

Bishop Nigel smiled at me. ‘Holy water doesn’t harm vampires. Which is just as well, as it would make it impossible to baptise them.’When I was asked by a dragon to give him the last rites, I never dreamed it would lead to negotiating with his cannibalistic family or running from snail sharks. Life as the priest of a small English village is quite tame in comparison. At least I have Morey, a gryphon with sarcasm management issues, to help me. And if all else fails, there’s always red wine and single malt whisky. As if my life weren’t complicated enough, a darkly beautiful dragon named Raven keeps appearing where I least expect him, I’ve met a handsome police inspector who loves science fiction as much as I do, and my younger brother is getting into trouble for trying to pick up vampires. That’s what happens when you’re dealing with an incredible and dangerous parallel world full of mythical creatures. And I have to learn to navigate it all without losing myself, or my brother…'This is a novel that everyone should read. It has so many layers; religion, humor, friendship, family, marriage, and social norms. Everyone can find something to love. I haven’t been able to stop talking about it! It’s original, refreshing, and delightful!' ★★★★★  Readers' Favorite'The world is richly penned with fully developed larger-than-life characters, a beautiful and believable world, and a premise that will tickle the fancy of anyone who loves a decent mystery wrapped in a shroud of fantasy. ...A nearly flawless tale of a flawed woman doing her best with humor and faith, though not always with dignity, in a strange new world, this is one magical creation not to be missed!'  ★★★★ 1/2 InD'Tale MagazineGo to my website for more details.

Shadow Souls (The Mal'Ak Cycle Book 1)

by Christopher Nooner

Dear Ms. Wright:

I am writing in reference to the journal we discussed. The one I discovered hidden among my Great Uncle's belongings.
After delving into its contents and knowing your interest in the orphic and esoteric, I knew you would be intrigued by what I discovered.
I have transcribed a portion of the journal, but the contents being what they are, will await your response before I part with the greater portion. It contains ideas that are better left alone if you have not the time nor inclination to pursue the full endeavor of delving into this particular mystery.
That being said here is the portion I wish for you to see:

September 15, 1986

I saw the man again to-day. Seven Crow he is called. It is astounding to me that he looks virtually the same as he did on that occasion forty years ago when we met. I know this to be true because the events surrounding that meeting have been indelibly imprinted upon my mind. I don't know by what means he has kept his youth, but his strong native features and work hardened physique are undimmed by the passing years. It is surely the work of the native shamanism practiced upon him that has kept him so.
I do not know if he saw me, but I endeavored to conceal myself from his knowledge and attention. I feel as though he did not see me, for had he I am sure he would not have let me live. It was imperative for me to know that he was still confined in that hellish prison; whatever confinement means for one such as he.
It worries me that all of our years of patience and preparation will be undermined should Keezie somehow cross paths with this man. He has wrecked our past stratagem irreparably and perpetrated much damage to our cause.
There are things I long to tell the girl, but know that it is better she find them out for herself. The clues are there if she is clever enough to follow them. Her life will be hard once the forces in play pull her into their maelstrom. I hope I have prepared her well enough as she is the only one that can hope to control the device. Either that or she will die.
I will write more as events unfold...

Urban Fantasy with a Native American Twist.

After spending forty years in prison Eli Seven Crow is weak and lacking the power of his former self. When he is herded headlong into a maelstrom designed to steal his people’s most ancient secrets, his life and the one woman in two hundred years that he might be able to love he must find a way to save himself, or all life will be consumed by the otherworldly evil that his family has worked to defeat since the First People set foot on Mother Earth.

WRONG! Retro Games, You Messed Up Our Comic Book Heroes!

by Chris Baker and Matthew Waite

If you're a superhero fan who loves video games, you've experienced firsthand how pretty much every title out there – good or bad, remembered or forgotten – does something that's absolutely, unapologetically WRONG! with its source material. This ebook documents the most egregious – and most hilarious – offenders from the moment Superman flew onto the Atari 2600 in 1978 all the way through 1992, when Konami's classic X-Men sucked in quarter after quarter in arcades.
Some you've played. Some you haven't. And quite a few you never even knew existed in the first place. Some high-/lowlights:
Purple Dark Knight vs. Green Joker in Batman: The Video Game (NES)
Proven instances of "slapping a license" on an already-developed game
Games that stripped Wolverine and He-Man of their most iconic weaponry
A questionable transportation method for the Man of Steel in Superman (NES)
A Transformers game from the creator of Pitfall!
The strangest comic book license ever to hit the Sega Genesis
The most unnecessary tie-in to a superhero animated series of all time
The Danger Mouse Trilogy
That one lonely Thundercats game
Who is "the Princess Peach of superhero games"?
Who was the first Marvel character to be featured in three games? And what's the single gaming appearance he's had since 1985?
