Sleep Scenes: 50 scenarios to help your child drift off to sleep

by Andrea Komadori

What happens when you leave your child's room each night? Does your child drift off to sleep quickly or stay awake for ages? What happens right at the end of the bedtime routine before sleep? Often we leave it to chance. Sleep Scenes is a chance to change this.

The book was written to answer the question “Daddy what can I think about?” It is a collection of 50 scenes that children can enter into and loose themselves in as they drift off to sleep. They offer a way for children to switch off from busy thoughts about the day, and a way to create fantastic dream worlds from the comfort of their bed.

Sleep Scenes aren't bedtime stories for children, but rather stories for children to create after they have finished listening to or reading their bedtime story. Sleep Scenes are scenarios for your child to think about before they fall asleep. The Sleep Scenes ease children from being awake into going to sleep. Each Sleep Scene is short to read but offers the opportunity of endless imaginary possibilities.

Your child’s imagination is limitless. Often however, a child’s imagination competes with a multitude of conflicting and distracting stimuli. In bed though, after the lights have gone out and your child is left alone, there is a chance for your child to exercise their imagination. Many children can just do this but some children need help to enter the hinterland between wakefulness and sleep. Even those that can just drift off, sometimes welcome some help and some ideas.

Sleep Scenes can also be used in other situations such as long car journeys. They are a good way to start off a day dream.

Using Sleep Scenes not only provides a welcome addition to your child's bedtime routine, but it is a great way to grow happy, imaginative, contented children.

Keri and Kalina: A Windflower Saga Chapter Book (The Windflower Saga 27)

by Aleksandra Layland

This book takes place in a fictional Kingdom called Kimbria, in a world not of our own. Kalina is seven years old. For the last year, since her mother died, she has attended a boarding school with her second cousin Keri, who is ten and an orphan. The boarding school is run by nuns, including their cousin Sister Ermentrude, who has been raising Keri since she lost both of her parents when she was only two. The cousins share the sadness of having lost one or both of their parents, but they also share much happiness as well, including being from a secret homeland called Kimberlee where they go to visit their great grandparents and many cousins. Kalina is surprised to learn from her father that her grandparents have just moved to their homeland and can now take her to live with them. Now she must decide if she will stay with Keri and Sister Ermentrude at boarding school, or live with her grandparents and other cousins. Note: The story of the characters of Kalina and her cousin Keri (Keridwen) are told in the novel "Of Wisdom and Valor: The Art of War. The Path of Peace." (Part II of The Windflower Saga trilogy.) This small chapter book is an introduction of their characters to young people.

INTERCESSOR OF JESUS (A CHRISTIAN BOOK Book 4)

by Luis Dávila

God hates divorce, that's something we must understand. He will always be in favor of helping families remain together. I know the fight won't be easy because there are many elaborate arguments that support divorce. It's not the time to go into details, but I will say that those arguments can be valid at some point to separate for some time to look for God, not to get divorced. God is always in favor of family union, and against divorce. God assigns the obedient to Jesus who changes their lives, the Holy Spirit guides them to restore the marriage. This mission of fighting for marriage and against divorce is difficult. That's why we have Jesus Christ on our side, the only guarantee of winning this assignment. I trust in his promises because God is not a man to lie or be regretful. The future for us might be uncertain but, He moves in eternity. When he assures something, it's because it has already happened. Things occur in the spiritual world first and then come to be on earth. Has He said it? Then He will do it. Has He spoken? Then it will be so. If we keep his instructions. Content: Circumstances. Decision. Freedom. Legal Battle. Complaint. Investigation. Audience. Regret and forgiveness. Trial. Sentence. Military battle. Spiritual war.

How to Stop Bullies for Kids

by Ingram ECE, C

The goal of this book is to help children realize two important factors surrounding bullies. First, it helps children to understand other children are also experiencing bullies. This isn't a good thing, but it helps when a child knows he or she isn't the only one with a particular issue.

Secondly, when you take direct steps to increase a child's self-respect, self-awareness and self-confidence, the child's confidence will go a long way in making the bully feel small. The first step in building confidence is helping children to be honest about themselves and the world around them. Scroll up and grab a copy today.

The author is a retired before and after-school instructor, and preschool teacher. She has written several dozen educational books for children, but often remembers the sadness of children who were bullied in her after-school programs. She sincerely hopes this book will serve the purpose it was written for.

What Makes My Dad Special?: Join little Kate as her mom tells her about all of the things that make her dad such a great person – and why she chose him… just for them. US Version.

by C. Selbherr

What makes my dad special?" Kate asked with a stare. "Sit down and I will tell you." Mom pulled out a chair. Mom took a deep breath and sat next to Kate. "I'll tell you the story of why your dad is so great!" Join little Kate as her mom tells her about all of the things that make her dad such a great person - and why she chose him... just for them.US Version.* * * As far as parents go, I feel like I hit the jackpot. My parents were and still are thoughtful, kind, loving and supportive. But not everyone has the luck that I have had. Sometimes fathers or mothers just aren't around. Sometimes through no fault of their own and sometimes it's just not possible for that parent to be a part of a child's life. Sometimes the single parent meets and falls in love with a new partner. If you are lucky, your new partner will love and cherish your child as much as he/she does you. The bond between a step parent and a child can be an amazing thing. But what if your child doesn't know that their mom or dad isn't their biological parent? Have you found yourself wondering how and when to tell your child? Many parents find themselves in this situation. Do I tell my child early? Or in their teens? Or as an adult? If you have decided to tell your child early, then I hope that this picture book will help you. It is full of wonderful illustrations that will encourage you to discuss this theme with your son or daughter. It is an ideal first step in explaining the love a step parent can feel for their child. Happy reading!Charlotte

Where Did They Go? 2nd Edition: Helping Children Understand A Loved One’s Passing

by Katrina-Jane

In this 2nd edition the identity of who has passed is nonspecific and can be used to help a child understand the passing of a grandmother, uncle, or pet or anyone in between. You may not see the soul, but it always travels with you.Touching, profound and poignant, this book strives to help you to help your children understand where a loved one or special pet goes when they pass on, sometimes unexpectedly. For children the world can seem like a big place, full of wonder, excitement and fun. But there are times when life’s more serious side can enter into their lives, perhaps sooner than we would wish for them.Bereavement is one such time and, while we would like to shield them from the pain as much as possible, it is also a fundamental part of life and must be faced. It is something which does not always have to be a negative. It can be used to help heal wounds and bring a new perspective to a child’s viewpoint. This book helps to deal with just that. It gently, and with great sensitivity, explains to children where we go when we die, reminding them that this is only ever temporary and that wherever they go, the spirit of their loved one or pet travels with them always.

The Ghosts of Graceland: A Mandi Mystery

by Pam Harris

Unexplained voices coming from nowhere in the middle of the night, a strange man lurking around them, a quirky great- aunt who has an obsession about a singer who has been dead for years, a homeless teen-age boy with a secret—all mysteries that twelve-year-old Mandi Ferguson must solve during her dreaded stay in Memphis, Tennessee. Much against their will, she and her twin sister have been sent from their home in California to stay with a great-aunt they barely know while their mother is on a two-week honeymoon in Europe. There is nothing Mandi likes any better than solving mysteries and when she hears voices outside of her room during her first night in Memphis, she is convinced she is hearing ghosts, possibly Elvis Presley’s ghost since her great-aunt’s house is right behind the entertainer’s home, Graceland. Is there a connection between the voices and the man who is spying on them? What about the homeless boy with a mysterious past who needs their help? What is Aunt Trina’s true connection to Elvis? And why doesn’t her mother call more often—is she so enamored with her new husband that she is unconcerned about her daughters? Mysteries can be fun to solve, but as Mandi learns the answers to all of her questions, she discovers that the solutions were right in front of her all along. All she needed to do was ask.

The book has rhyming text, with detailed, beautiful illustrations, that will delight both children and adults. This is a TRUE STORY! Kealy Connor Lonning is inspired to write about her six children, and this book is about her firstborn son.The new parents were thrilled:Our newborn had arrived--a special gift to hold. We're glad you joined our world--our treasure, yes, our gold. This touching story follows a baby growing up, through the toddler, childhood, and teen years, graduation, and beyond. And at the end of the story, you will see, that is what he does! This lucky child, unconditionally loved by parents and grandparents, resonates with kids who get to see/hear the story.OUR WONDERFUL YOU can be shared with the special child in your life! It also makes a great gift for occasions like baby showers, birthdays, and graduations.THIS HEARTWARMING, INSPIRATIONAL STORY is reminiscent of the works of children's book authors: Nancy Tillman (Wherever You Are, My Love Will Find You), Marianne Richmond (You Are My Heart; If I Could Keep You Little), and Emily Winfield Martin (The Wonderful Things You Will Be.) A drawing for Dad: A book to celebrate dads and their affection

by Ruiz di Altamirano, Olimpia

A book to celebrate dads and their affection; for children who miss their dads during the day… and for all dads who love holding their children’s hands!“Each day after breakfast my dad leaves the house. He always comes back, but only after dark. I miss him. I want to make a nice drawing for him.”The task is more difficult than you think because the little main character, who speaks in the first person and is never seen, can’t decide: what drawing would please a dad like hers? “A ball. Maybe three. More is better. No… lots and lots! Too many. Maybe Dad won’t like them.”Her doubts multiply.“How does Dad always know the way home? If he goes too far, mightn’t he forget? And where is Dad all day?”Her mom reassures her: Dad is at his office, and that’s where he’ll hang the drawing she’s making for him. Finally the little girl knows just what drawing to make. Illustrations based on original drawings by Isabel, age 3.A complete preview is available on the writer’s blog.

Miist: Free Sneak Peek of the First Ten Chapters (The Bone Grit Historeum Book 1)

by Kamilla Reid

Recipient of the Readers Choice Five Star Award and a Kids Pick Seal of Approval, Miist, with its humor and magic, is the new fantastical adventure flying off bookshelves!Root Karbunkulus has a few enemies:The Finks because she rescued the children they had stolen. The Aunts because how dare she quit scavenging for them. And the Badges because they’re tired of arresting her all the time. Her odds of surviving the streets of Shade Howl are dwindling daily. She could really use something decent this Birthday. Preferably an Ember Stamp that could bestow her with powerful magical abilities. But that’ll never happen because Birthday is a national holiday for all those born. Everyone. Young and old and in between. And that means her Starter Gift is exchanged from person to person all day long and she has no control over what her Ender Gift will be.But something very strange happens to Root this Birthday. Somehow, she ends up with, not one but three Ender Gifts. Three! One is a tiny woman in a box with a decidedly fancy invitation to a decidedly official order called the Clade of Acquisitions. The second is a funny looking coin. And the third……is an Ember Stamp!“Humor, heart and non-stop action! Read this fiercely original series and thank your lucky stars you did!” Book Buzz

Blocky Little Women: Springtime Sisters (A Family Story)

by Dakota Daniels

The springtime sisters are four village teenagers who must cope with a father missing in action and a mother away from home every night fighting skeletons and zombies. But even the Great Undead War cannot dampen the spirits of four blocky little women in Eastlandia. No zombie is going to stop sister May from attending college in Romulem, or sister June from dazzling everyone at the Fall Dance!

While the majority of Minecraft-inspired fan fiction titles focus on fighting and violence, this book is concerned more about relationships: among the sisters, and with the wealthy potion master and young son who move into their old house, interfering relatives, fussy teachers, bothersome boys, and all manner of bullies.

Written in a diary style from the viewpoints of two sisters, this book is a heartwarming and family-focused tale about overcoming adversity. While there are one or two battle scenes, and a recurring appearance by a strange, powerful newcomer called Steve, the storyline contains no graphic violence, bad language, or other inappropriate content. Suitable for all ages.

This original work of fan fiction was inspired in part by Minecraft, and in part by Louisa May Alcott's book Little Women. However, the plot and characters are unique, and the ending is crafted to be especially blocky. The story stands alone by itself and does not require familiarity with Minecraft or Little Women to enjoy.

Families Come in Many Forms

by Bella Mei Wong

Alex goes on a journey to find the perfect pet. He visits his friends and plays with a singing pig, a curious panda, and many other wonderful animals – depicted throughout by rhythmic text and charming illustrations.

Along the way Alex meets his friends’ families – traditional, adopted, divorced, blended, IVF, same sex and others. These family forms are not presented as “different”, but are treated as a normal part of today’s world.

TESTIMONIALS

"This is a beautiful book about different types of families - donor conceived, adopted and traditional, and the love they share for each other and their special pets. This book is a wonderful introduction to "non-traditional" families. Highly recommended." Kate Bourne, Chair of the Australian and New Zealand Infertility Counsellors' Association.

“This is a delightful book for parents to share with their children. It can be used to start conversations as well as make families laugh. Importantly it helps to normalise “alternative” family forms and enriches character growth in young children. This joyful and cheerful book is a must for every family.” Dr Stella Kwong, psychiatrist, family therapist.
