JOURNEY TO NOWHERE: A SPIRITUAL COMEDY

by Munish Markan

Laughter is the best medicine. What if, one day, you meet a laughing Buddha. Here is one. Rishi Anand, a student of philosophy is in search of universal principles which make the human life fulfilling. His quest to know the secret of joy, prosperity, peace of mind, happiness and Enlightenment propels him to carry out journeys, within and without. His three friends act as cosmic jokers caring damn about anything smelling spiritual. Their only creed is laughter. Their interaction with each other provides a fertile ground for humor to sprout. They carry out a journey to an Ashram in the holy city of Haridwar, India. The journey and the stay there is a comical saga which brings out the worldly wisdom and spiritual message at common meeting point. It also exposes the rot which has set in the conventional approach to religion. Rishi also visits USA and learns there the basic principles of effective living and core management skills. His search for Enlightenment lands him in the company of a University Professor whose words of wisdom clear the mental cobwebs and also teaches him how to meditate. Rishi practices these meditation techniques even in the thick of routine life without being noticed by anyone. Professor also unravels the timeless wisdom to the world by delivering high powered lectures in an unconventional manner. The lectures address the most fundamental questions bothering intelligent humans involving deep undercurrents of emotions like sin, guilt, charity, pain and suffering etc.. Prof. adopts a scientific approach to subtle psychological issues concerning ordinary humans and highlights the importance of awareness in day to day life. Rishi also falls in love with a girl Meera and their love story transports the reader to another world. Essentially, it is one of those spiritual books to read which uses humor and wisdom to uncover the mystery surrounding abstract spiritualism. The book offers deep insights into the timeless principles to lead a meaningful and purposeful life. A journey from piece of mind to peace of mind.

The Moonstone (Enchantment Book 1)

by Evelyne Contant

Fear, love… and betrayal; that’s what I feel about my new life.
It’s a life I never asked for, at least not like that.
I certainly dreamed of adventure, of escaping from my ordinary life, but nothing prepared me for what would happen when my normal life flipped upside down.
On that fateful day, a witch, a real one, revealed to me that I’m not human! That’s right, I, Lou Mills, am an enchanter like her! It seems that I’m the key to an ancient prophecy and that I must save the world from the imminent war between humans and enchanters. What waits makes no sense; in fact, nothing seems to make sense to me since meeting her.
And then there’s this man…dark and mysterious…but so attractive. If only I could forget him. Duality is the way the Earth remains in balance, black and white, right and wrong, love and hate. What side should I fight for when the war finally breaks out? How to choose between my family…and the people who I belong to?

Asunder: A Novel of the Civil War

by Curt Locklear

Thrust into the middle of Civil War battle, with both Union and Rebel protagonists and antagonists, Asunder, the first in the Trilogy, is a story of love and loss and of families torn apart. Thoroughly researched, the novel presents numerous complex, memorable characters struggling against incredible odds in an epic spanning from Texas to New York. he story begins in frigid February, long after the battle. Cyntha Favor, an abolitionist and ardent believer in Spiritualism, searches the battlefield in hopes of finding her husband’s grave. Having received erroneous reports of his death, she hopes to free his tormented soul. During the Civil War, it is estimated that at least one-fifth of the population wholeheartedly believed in Spiritualism. Mary Lincoln held séances in the White House with President Lincoln in attendance. Sara Reeder, initially naïve and an ardent supporter of the Southern cause, is thrust into the battle maelstrom. An excellent horse-woman, she rides to warn the army of a surprise attack, but is too late. With battle all around, she aids wounded Union soldiers, and her zeal for the war changes forever. In early 1861, both armies wore an assortment of uniforms. The Union had not adopted the standard blue uniform. Cyntha’s husband, a Union soldier, Iowa Grays volunteer, Joseph Favor, is found unconscious by Sara. Nursed to health by Sara and her father, Lucas, he awakens with no memory, unable to recall even the battle. The Reeders perceive him, since he is dressed in gray, to be a Confederate. Dred Workman, a conniving Iowan comrade and deserter to the Rebels, falsely identifies Joseph as a Cavalryman in the Third Texas. The Reeder home is turned into a hospital. Soon, they are left to care for numerous wounded with no help from the army. Lucas blames Lincoln for the war. Based on an actual event, he holds a grudge against the president for something that happened before the war when Lincoln was a lawyer. Lucas and his slave have become friends, no longer slave and master.Sara and Joseph are romantically drawn to each other, but Joseph is haunted by fleeting images of his past. Joseph is called to join the cavalry. Will this parting keep them from being together? Joined by her freeman employee and confidant, Josiah Reynolds, Cyntha’s headstrong manner lands her in confinement by the Union army. She meets a dubious Spiritualist who convinces her that Joseph’s soul is indeed tormented. Learning her brother is accused of robbery, and aided by a quirky Rebel supporter, Constance Carver, she plans escape. Her brother has problems of his own when the steamboat he is a passenger on sinks in a storm. The survivors are attacked by River Pirates. With Missouri marauder gangs closing in on the Reeder farm, the Spiritualist Fox sisters holding séances, and devastating battles, Asunder drives towards a devastating climax. Witch Inheritance (A Mackenzie Coven Mystery Book 1)

by Sonia Parin

Alexandra Elizabeth Mackenzie. Stop ignoring us. Speak the words. Make this right so we can be… Bright.Lexie’s birthday has caught up with her, as have her cousins, Mirabelle Louisa Mackenzie - High Chair of the British Isles and all Circumferential Domains Pertaining to the Mackenzie Coven - and Catherine Marianna Mackenzie, her down under cousin (If she has a title, she’s not telling her). They’ve been sent to remind Lexie of her family obligations and also to give her a birthday gift. The type she can’t return, refuse or exchange. It’s her heritage and it comes with a job she didn’t even apply for. It’s actually more a way of life than a career and it comes with a snazzy new outfit only her cousins can see. Thank goodness for that…Not surprisingly, Mirabelle and Catherine Mackenzie are short on details and time to explain. In fact, Lexie has less than two days to brush up on her skills and fly to England… at the blink of an eye. The Mackenzie Coven has been enlisted to assist with a rising concern at House St James. It comes in the shape of an inky black fog Lexie calls the menace. It might not be in corporeal form, but it’s somehow managed to murder one St James family member. Now it’s Lexie’s job to make sure it doesn’t strike again, but she’s fallen under a spell. Suddenly she’s tearing off her beloved denim jeans and Rock Hard t-shirt and donning bespoke designer dresses and sipping ‘delish’ champagne. Even her accent has changed and her cousins can’t do anything about it because a covenant prohibits all three Mackenzie Coven witches from gathering in the house together. They must somehow circumvent the seal and guide Lexie through her first official task as a Mackenzie Coven witch and find the murderer before all the heirs meet their end…Clean read: no graphic violence, sex, or strong language.

Blood Price: Paranormal Vampire Romance (Blood Immortal Book 1)

by Ava Benton

Elias is a vampire, but not your average run of the mill vampire. He and the rest of the vampires in The Fold were created for the sole purpose of serving as guardians of witches. Elias is a Nightwarden. He’s been awakened from his stasis to serve as Nightwarden to a witch he can barely stand. But that doesn’t stop him from his duty. Until she goes missing. Failure is not an option. Mariya’s sister is High Sorceress of their coven. This doesn’t frustrate Mariya. What frustrates Mariya is that she’s inexplicably drawn to the strong, silent type—specifically, her sister’s Nightwarden, Elias. Nightwardens do not engage in relationships. Witches do not consort with Nightwardens. When Mariya’s High Sorceress sister is kidnapped, Mariya is forced to work in close proximity with Elias to get her sister back forces feelings to rise to the surface. Feelings that are dangerous, because a Nightwarden cannot fail, and he cannot engage in relationships. The penalty is permanent and irreversible. It’s a penalty Mariya doesn’t want him to have to pay that penalty. Meanwhile, she has a sister that needs saving.

Inia: English Version

by Del Gaudio, Raffaele

SYNOPSIS:
Located today, “Inia” draws on from some recent events of the scientific world, in particular from the accident happened at the LHC of Geneva. It tames few historical facts making them part of the plot.
Among the main characters there are: Eric and James, two men of extraterrestrial origin, which with other people are the maker of the last 500 hundred years of our history; Jonah, a brilliant scientist used and guided by aliens to reach their goal. Antoine, a brilliant young man grown among humans and unaware of his alien origin and many other characters which take part in the stories of the main characters and someone will become a key point for the novel.

THE ORIGIN OF THE STORY.
“Inia” is a planet quite similar to the earth for dimension and orbit, Iniits are technologically advanced then humans; at a certain point they find out that their sun (Beta Hydri) is not stable anymore and it won't guarantee their survival for a long time. Led to their need to survive and not aware yet to have a technology not able to sustain an interstellar journey, they decide to explore a solar system quite close and capable to sustain life.
Coming back to their native planet is a necessary condition to complete their mission,in case the guest system is able to sustain them. Their technology doesn't permit a short time journey, so they have to genetically modify the crew and the stasis rooms to survive for the time they need. They have to come back because, during the 300 years of travel time to reach the new solar system, Beta Hydri's emission would become too strong to communicate with Inia.
During the journey, an unexpected accident precludes any possibility to come back to their native planet. They manage to reach their goal that reveals suitable to sustain them against any expectations but everything will be useless if they can't contact their planet.

THE NEW PLAN.
The planet they reached is populated by a dawning civilization, they have 500 years to communicate their native planet that the new one is livable.
So a crazy plan starts, that is to give to these unaware natives a technology able to open a black hole and, using their knowledges, to address the other side to Beta Hydri to send the message and in this way it would be certainly intercepted.
But during centuries, their doing, even if soothed, generates suspects and a group, that has gathered evidences of their existence, tries to stop them in any way.
The author, in this book that is in the middle between a science fiction and a crime novel, wanted to test himself about these topics: the research of our origin, the alien and intergalactic life, different space-temporal dimensions, the struggle for the safety of the human gender.
The story unties into two parallel stories that in the end get crossed unconsciously in a surprising and disquieting final, but also full of hope and humanity.
